Thanks for the write up and all the time and research that went into figuring it out. I just completed installing my TowPro controller and came up with a few ways to save some cost and simplify the installation. Take a look at the attached document and perhaps you might want to update yours. Otherwise for all, here are my suggestions.

Great find on that blew wire! I had a feeling that was it but I didn't have the right tool or a friend at the time that could help me check continuity on that wire.

If you have a blue wire in the position on the 7-pin harness in the back, it does go inside the cab under the passenger side back seat. So no need for running a new one like I did.

It seems the signal wire could be traced to up front somewhere and eliminate the need to cut into the harness.
