Any ideas? I am having an unusual slight thump after stopping at intersections, red lights etc. At first I thought I had been lightly bumped from behind per the new 2024 Tacoma. I’ve noticed a delayed “thump” after I come to a complete stop in my ‘24. The sound is coming from the rear of the truck and happens 1-2 seconds after I stop. I thought it might be the spare but it’s secured tightly. Have any suggestions as to what it might be? Or is this normal?

Can’t thank you enough..

I asked because that sounds like axle wrap, but that is just on trucks with leaf springs. My 2nd gen had a bad habit of doing that.

I have seen other people describe the same thing in 4th gens but I don't remember seeing any answers. Hopefully someone else has seen this and maybe even has a resolution.

Yes Sir, that is initially where I have been reading from forums with previous gen models with leaf springs experience this issue occurring per the 4th Gen before I did not notice anything now that I’ve put 5k on this Tacoma I’ve really been waking this truck up and now I’m noticing this more frequently.

Sounds like a trip to your dealer might be needed. If it didn't do it until 5k miles it sounds like something has changed and better get checked out.

My opinion on what’s causing that is “slop” in the driveline, 3rd gens were notorious for that (some of them) the other theory is the transmissions is having some kind of delay to it and us trying to shift when the truck is stopped …. Idk I’m not an engineer but trying to use my common sense
