I finally got a chance to use my Carista. $9.99 subscription which I canceled immediately was totally worth it for these three things:

1) Change my blinker tap to 7 flashes instead of Toyota’s standard of 3 flashes. Since I only use tap on the highway, 7 flashes is perfect for changing lanes at highway speeds. If I’m turning in town, I’m not tapping the blinker, it’s a full-on engage at that point.
2) Auto-down of all windows with the keyfob
3) Remove the annoying-ass seatbelt chimes!

For those interested, here are all the options it gave me:

I didn't mess with the speaker volume to be honest. But yes, mine is usually around 20-30, sometimes higher, depending on the source.

I'd like to be able to turn off the annoying seat belt chime as well as add the all-windows-down using the key fob functionality. I get that I'll need a subscription to do this.

It's also my understanding that upon completion, after I cancel my subscription, these settings will stay in effect.

My question is, at this point, can I also remove the Carista from my ODB2 plug and still keep the changed settings? After making any Carista adjustments, I'd like to be able to resume using my old ScanGauge in the OBD2 port and have not been able to find a reference about whether everything new will continue to work after unplugging the Carista.

Any info will be greatly appreciated; thanks...

Yes you can remove it and the changes will still be there.

It's a software setting that you're changing that isn't dependent on the device still being connected.

I already have a OBD2 reader. Can I use it with Carista app or do I have to buy their proprietary reader? Looked through a couple threads and did not see that question answered.

You have to use the Carista reader with the Carista app. Not cross compatible.

Thanks Maxx075 for your quick reply!

And now the app is $15 a month. Hate the new normal of subscription based life.

Same, but you can just pay for a month, make your changes, and it they will stay after you've canceled.
That is what I recommend doing too. You can always subscribe again for one month if you need to use it.

The video above goes over it well. The things I've seen talked about most are disabling the fake engine noise, disabling active noise canceling, and turning on the window control with the fob.

Though this is not possible via this device, I've wondered if MTM can be enabled for those who only have the PVM (like the limited trim). It would be nice to get those off-road specific views. Specifically the "under the vehicle" one.
Yes, I have a Premium Sport which has all the cameras. It does not have the "under the vehicle" view as an option in the camera views, it's the only view that it does not have, although it uses the front camera to do this which I have. Come on Toyota, really you are going to disable this view just because it's a Sport and not an Off road. What since does that make???
