Hello all. New guy here. Just picked up the truck today. A 24 Tacoma Sport with the Sport Premium package. For day 1, I am loving it!

I have a Blackvue DR970X 2 camera dash cam that I installed earlier this year in the car I traded in. I pulled the units but left the wiring (neatly hidden I might add)

Anyway, after lurking here a few weeks while I was waiting for my truck, I went and ordered a Donger PRO Parking Mode adapter which allegedly will arrive Friday.

My questions are many, but the biggest one is that in the examples posted earlier in this thread, the dash cams seem to connect to USB ports, which is not the case with the Blackview. It has a phono-plug type power connection.

So what are my options if anyone has done this before with a Blackview. I saw in an earlier post here that someone has done it, but the details are not detailed enough for me aging brain.

Can someone tell me if I have what I need, or what else I need to get to make this work? I have grown used to having a DashCam, and these days it's a very good idea to protect yourself from the many unlicensed and uninsured drivers out there.

Thanks! And I am looking forward to jumping into the threads on this forum

Just got my Hybrid TRD sport a few weeks ago. And got the VIOFO A229 pro 2 channel. I bought and installed the Dongar pro but it wont allow for parking mode. Bummer. So now I’m looking to hardwire the dash cam but there’s not a lot of room which you guys know. (I read the whole forum.) Is it safe to just take the harness through the firewall and tap into the fuse box on the drivers side under the hood? Is there a better option. I literally just got my windows tinted and I didn’t use the electrostatic film so if I replace the cameras I’ll be replacing at least one window tint. Thoughts and ideas are needed. If I use the one in the engine compartment do I dril a small enough hole to allow my wires to come through where the fuse cover meets the fuse box ? Is that safe? Also can I just add a secondary fuse box is that a thing? Thanks

Anyone with a Dongar Pro know how to change the voltage output of the little unit? I set mine up and cut one of the USB cables included because I will have to splice it into the Blackvue cable because of the connector mismatch, then tested the Dongar Output voltage I put a meter on the red/black and the output was 5v. I need it to be 12v for the Blackvue.

I have searched the Dongar website and web for info on setting the output voltage to 12v but I cannot find any information whatsoever.

Talkin' to myself here, but for future reference for others:

The Dongar Pro USB-C output senses what voltage is needed and provides it. There is no user setting to change.

For those interested in connecting a Blackvue to the thing, there now is a cable available from BlackboxMyCar that goes from USB-C to the Blackvue power plug. In order to use it I had to cut it and splice it back together to get a very short cable. There are 3 wires in the cable and it's very easy to splice them using solder and shrink tubing.

Works great! The Dongar Pro is a great little unit

I bought the Viofo wire kit. I used the add-a-fuse and ran the cable down over to the passenger footwell fuse box. Works great. Parking mode works and the big plastic footwell covers the fuse box just fine without needing to smaller black fuse cover.
