Yea except the only springs I’ve seen are a 2” lift and I’d rather retain factory rake and minimal lift. My prior Tacoma was fully lifted and just wasn’t what I was looking for w on road feel. Plus, things are already closeIt seem, like a stiffer spring for the front may be good? maybe
@gofastdanYeah, that's probably right. If you don't want to raise the front then you'll want the shorter springs in back. I've got the Westcott spacers in the front and with ~1,200 lbs in the back end the 819's are perfect. Even with all that weight the backend would be too high if I didn't have the front lifted though.
I think you would be happy with the front lifted and the 819's on the back.@gofastdan
I was wondering if you could do me a favor and measure the distance from the mid point of your wheel to the start of the rear/front fender. I would like to see the distance for front back.
I ended up installing the 821 on my TRD OR which has about 440 added weight to the bed.
I will post pic here tomorrow but the rear, mid wheel to fender is about 25 inches and the front is about 21 inches. So 4 inches of difference since I currently do not have a lift in the front at the moment. If I decide to stay with the 821s, I am adding 2 inches of lift to the front but If I go down to the 819... I am wondering if the 2 inch in the front would be too much. I am thinking that my trucks rear would go down an additional 1 or 1.25 inches. Your numbers would help me make a decision.
Free shipping is a great deal. I think I paid $60 or $70 for shipping. The Dobinsons USA website is updated now with fitment information of the C59s on the 2024+ Tacomas. Thanks gofastdan for starting this! I just bought a set of the 817s from Mudify on early black Friday sale- $235 with no WA tax and free shipping, but I have to wait until January for the black ones to ship out.
I also installed the Timbrens (TORSEQ3 with no spacers) and have really been liking the feel of those. I have about 1/2" clearance between my axle and them currently, but am ready to get rid of the bounciness the stock springs have still.
My off-road sits 1.25" lower (than stock with my rock sliders already installed) with the weight of the short bed lone peak and I plan on keeping my other gear pretty light. Trying to keep it as close to stock height as possible, and hold off on needing new shocks. Excited to see how it works!
Tough call! It sounds like you really don't want to lift the front and normally don't carry that much weight, in which case you may be best served with the 817's and then you could install Timbren SES bump stops for when you're carrying weight. Or....think about air bags for short term use but I haven't done much research on them and don't know what's available for the Taco yet.Indeed, thank you so much @gofastdan . I have been having a debate this past few days of what to do with my setup. With the little weight normally carry, the trucks rear is way too high with the 821s.... and dropping another inch with the 819s sounds enticing... but then I start thinking about the 817 and the fact that those I may not need to deal with a lift in the front makes is sound so much "gooder" ... but I just loaded my truck for our trip this weekend and the rear came down about another inch with the extra weight and I love the fact that its ass is not on the ground (as opposed to not having the 821s) and it makes me go back to I rather do the 819s. I am also concern with the decreased articulation that stiffer springs present vs software.. and I go back to the 817 as the best options... Obviously, I need to make a decision soon.... 819s with a 1.25 front lift, 817 with no lift but may drop lower as weight is added.... for camping... My weight will vary from 400 to 700 but never 1000....... your truck looks very nice... than you so much for all your responses..
Driveway is with the bed relatively empty and desert shot is near my normal. The 817’s seemed to be the ticket for me.@MtnToad - What did you decide on the springs ? I ended up getting the 821s installed and ... yikes.. my ass up, and face down.... need to rethink exactly what I want to do... a 1.25 0 1.5 lift for the front may be... but not sure yet.. its either I go down to 817-819 or lift the front...
