For the first time, Ford trucks are more reliable than the Tacoma. So are Ram. So are Chevy.

That’s not even relating to the 4G Tacoma? Repairpal gathers data from independent shops and derives their “rating” from that. No one is taking a 2024 truck under warranty to an Indy shop for a repair. Also, it’s a highly flawed model. I’ve got some ocean front property in Idaho for you too, if you’re interested

Sorry, and not attacking you @Bad Samaritan, but although there have been issues with 4th gens, Ford is the current leader in warranty costs. Last year the CEO said if they didn't get that under control it would kill the company. I have never seen any numbers indicating that Toyota has costs anywhere near that level.

So you are glad to have a Ford instead of a Toyota?

In 2023 Ford had $4.8 billion in warranty claim costs. One quarter in 2024 the warranty costs averaged out to $33 million a DAY. I have owned Ford trucks and after the warranties end they cost unbelievable money to keep them running.

Enjoy your Maverick - I know I am enjoying my Tacoma.

I drove a Santa Cruz for over a year before this truck. Not a bad vehicle, just not a real truck. Kinda like the Maverick . So I can relate to the OP's Tacoma envy. It's a real thing, for sure. There are better ways to deal with it, though.

Okay, all this frustration... Sorry I brought this up.
2024 Tacoma is a reliable truck. 🙂

Kenworth is a real truck. Mack is a real truck.
The Tacoma is just an SUV with a bed - much like the Maverick, only with insufficient legroom in the back row. 🙂

I don’t recall Toyota ever having to have the government bail them out
Cool. That's why the Tacoma's reliability took the nosedive, below the Ford Ranger that has never been bailed out either? I am not sure where you were getting this this.

Ford did not require a bailout. GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep did. I guess that was before your time.

The Tacoma's resale value has taken a nosedive, too.
Do you have any data about resale tanking?
I ordered a Maverick hybrid, but never picked it up due to the issues and endless recalls they had. I could not get over the 80’s blue interior that scratches easily, the countless people that had dying batteries with no solution, etc. the Maverick forum has its own sub forum for problems.

Well as a tech at a GM dealership I will tell you there is more issues with the 3rd gen Colorado/ Canyon trucks than ever before. Comparing notes with my brother who works at the Toyota dealer down the street, there are very few issues with the Tacoma and they have sold a lot more 4th gen Tacomas than we have 3rd gen Colorado/Canyons.
I am a waiting for my 2025 Tacoma to arrive, have no doubt it will be reliable, hopefully as reliable as my 2nd Gen 2009 Tacoma Sport has been. 16 years of trouble free service, brakes, oil changes, spark plugs, filters and rear shocks are all I have needed to change on my '09 Taco. Ultra reliable trucks.
