Got the truck back with 2nd new transmission replacement

A tech a spoke too thinks Toyota gonna have dealers replace the torque converter and flush the transmission cooling lines. Just speculation so I guess we’ll see. They really need to give us an answer soon. I thought about calling Toyota corporate and voicing my concern on behalf of all of us. So far my transmission has been fine though. I wonder if we all started calling corporate if that would escalate things faster

I will be calling corporate for a report on my transmission and torque converter that failed . 5000 miles and my trd sport auto trans went out. Been at dealer for 3 weeks waiting for trans and converter to arrive. It arrived Saturday yesterday. So hopefully this week I get it.

Appreciate it bro. Yeah I can't see it getting any better. My local dealer said they had already replaced a transmission and engine on a couple other 24 tacomas. Also I believe he mentioned that more have been dropped off since mine.

Currently seeing if I can get the truck exchanged because I feel like this is just gonna be placing a bandaid on the overall issue. They're currently reviewing that and stated that I have to wait 45 days for Toyota to review if they'll accept the exchange

The powertrain this year is brand new. It's not uncommon for these modern extremely complicated powertrains to have unforeseen issues the first year or two. The more complicated systems become the more failure points are possible and when you're dealing with brand new engineering, all the pre-testing won't find all the problems. When the new vehicles get in the hands of the public, that is the final round of testing.

Unfortunately I'm not surprised about reading about these problems and failures. I was very close to buying one this year, but I'm glad that I am waiting for 2026 or later for things like this to get worked out.

I didn't ask, but I wouldn't be too worried about the engines having issues at the moment. It's the transmissions as you're aware.

My local dealer has already replaced four. Mine will be their fifth, and apparently, another one was dropped off shortly after mine that needs a new transmission.

thats a lot on new trucks in the shop. Ppl are probably going insane like I was. they are working on mine today.took 3 weeks for trans and torgue convert to arrive . I will update when I get it in the road.
