If mods feel this should be in a different location please move
If a few of you guys can check out your 24 climate control operation and get back to me that would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if this is normal operation, or I may have a glitch.

When I have the ac off & the defroster off along with auto off, just have vehicle air on in vent mode.
The ac compressor cycles & my electrical ENGINE cooling fan is on, & vents are blowing ice cubes so ac is actually still on.
Dealer techs didnt check it out but service writer claims thats normal, the system is designed to do whatever it takes to get you to requested temp, even though ac is off & auto is off...

Theres a guy on another forum who claims he did what I described below & now his ac functions like an old school system, vent air is just that, no ac involved, his ac compressor isnt cycling, his electric engine cooling fan isnt running...
Before he toggled that selection his truck air system operated just like mine.

Can anyone else confirm, whats happening with their trucks?

Hit the gear icon at the bottom left of the infotainment screen and then went to vehicle customizations tab,
from there there’s multiple options, lights, door control, climate, and utility, went to climate and turned off the AC auto mode operation. As its defaulted on.
The compressor still cycling, electric engine cooling fan still running
After I determined that didnt resolve the issue, I put the toggle back to default. When I have the ac off & the defroster off along with auto off, just have vehicle air on in vent mode.

just trying to get my ducks in a row and have others check theirs out so when I go to dealer, they can’t say normal and send me down the road
Thank you

I think I get what your saying and I just tried mine a bit. With everything off for climate & fan I dont hear any cycling of the AC or rad fan. Soon as you hit just the fan button they start cycling. Hope this helps.

That’s what I’m referring to. Turn your climate control fan on just don’t run the AC or automatic temperature control. See if you’re cooling fan and AC compressor cycles.
if it does do this step and see if it changes:
go to the gear on the bottom left of your infotainment screen. Then go to vehicle customization tab. Toggle off the auto AC selection. See if that changes anything in regards to the AC compressor no longer cycling and electric engine cooling fan …..

I know it’s kind of difficult to understand. Hopefully it makes sense.

I toggled that selection off, but my electric cooling fan and AC compressor still operate when I’m just in air vent mode, no AC on, supposed to just blow un air-conditioned air, I’m still getting cold air

Yes after going in those settings it still cycles. I'm not under the hood so I can say the compressor for sure but yes the rad fan. I think that setting is for AUTO only

I know my post is hard to interpret what im trying to say, especially for those that just drive their trucks & arent "in-tune" with whats going on mechanically.

At first I thought nothing of my observation, "normal".......
but did seem odd & out of character from my extensive knowledge of over-all mechanical / technical vehicle operation....

So I compared my concern to another sr5 on the dealer lot along with had a few guys check theres on other forums, IG,etc...

I got my answers, My trucks climate control is NOT functioning as it should.

Get dropped off at dealer in the morning.

When my climate air is on in vent mode, ac off, auto off, defrosters off....

My ac compressor cycles & the engine cooling fan is on, essentially my ac is running all the time & it should not...

hopefully just a glitch / corruption in the software for the hvac module & just needs a reflash / update,, but who knows.

Will report more when I know....

Just checked mine. Pump seems to only kick in when on defrost or AC ON. U guys notice if u start truck on right side is dosent say AC ON or OFF. Rad fan starts to cycle though right away in very short bursts.

Yeah I'm having the same issue with mine, as soon as you turn on the fans you can hear the ac compressor cycling. Gonna try adjusting that setting to see if it helps.

Hi Friends,

Same issue here. This is how I defeat it.
From a temperature selected in auto with nothing showing on the screen but auto and temp.
First, select a manual fan speed.
Next, select a mode like dash vents only. These actions take the a/c out of auto.
But the a/c compressor will still run as evidenced by the really cool/cold air coming out of the vents. It seem counter intuitive bu the next step seems to fix the problem in my case.
Manually turn the a/c switch on for 10 seconds then turn it off.
You will pumping ambient air into the cabin after that.
Do these steps in order and I think you will have success and be able to use the vents as vent with no system support.

Cheers,
PO
