I am buying the Limited spec, that with the hybrid you get AWD which is great for me, ours will be a pavement princess and tow rig, so I actually prefer that vs a traditional 4WD system in all the other specs, of course except 2WD units.
I am 100% with you on the Limited! The only trim level with the full-time (lockable Torsen center differential) 4WD. A sweet system for folks who live in snow country. Will also be doing light off-roading.

I'm not sure I want to pay the price difference. For me there's not enough difference. I'd like to have extra power but the other engine will be enough. The reviews say it's got a little more power and smoother over all than the V6. I can add more accessories for $3000.

Great video with Chief engineer Sheldon Brown discussing what they have done to get this motor ready for truck duty!

Did we really expect him to have any public doubts? The first year can be a tad risky, even with Toyota. The 2024 Taco is a complete re-design. Hoping for the best.

Yeah - what give me a bit more confidence is the fact that all (or most) the components going into the new Tacoma have been used and tested in other toyota models (limited trim). Not much that's new to toyota but first time coming together in the tacoma.

If this was an all new engine, transmission or torsen system for toyota i'd probably wait at least a year.

But this is the year my lifestyle and needs are for a new vehicle so im gonna plug my nose and plunge in.

Ditto. Might be a Taco Limited, but more than likely a Land Cruiser, or even, gasp, the GX550. At my age (82), it's now or never. Spending the kid's inheritance. LOL!!!

No, but his comments explain what they have done to strengthen the platform including 50% of the parts in the engine are different/stronger/better then they use in the 2.4T in their other vehicles.

I must have missed that. So, some of the parts in the Tacoma 2.4T engine are "different/better/stronger", than say, in the 2.4T being put in, for example, the 2024 Land Cruiser, or the Crown Platinum? Different I can understand, but stronger or better? How so? Possibly he was referring the differences between the normally aspirated 2.5 vs the turbo-charged 2.4? This I can understand, as the turbo version of essentially the same engine would probably need strengthening, such as thicker cylinder walls (hence the slightly smaller displacement) and more robust pistons, rings, bearings, etc.

Comercial grade turbo, 3ā€ cooling tube are two things different from the passenger vehicle spec. You are correct about this video, it does not indicate about 50% of the parts being different from the passenger vehicle build. I have watched so many videos and this is not the one indicating that, I will continue to look for it and share once I find it, but I have heard Sheldon discuss this on one of the videos.

Im starting to think the additional payload on the hybrid may be due to the suspension upgrades on the Pro and TH. It will be very disappointing if the Sport, OR and Limited don't get additional payload in the Hybrid version.

I have watched so many videos
Same here. Difficult to keep them sorted out in my aged brain! A flood of videos for the GX550 have recently hit the web, and I am swamped with them!

Wow! It now appears the full-time 4WD (center Torsen differential), will only be available on the Limited hybrid! What is happening, Toyota? Well, at least I will not have to ponder between the hybrid or non-hybrid. I shudder to think what the Limited hybrid will cost! $60K?

I donā€™t think Tundra even offers it so Iā€™d consider it a bonus on the Taco. Iā€™d like to see driver seat memory switch as standard but I donā€™t think any of the trims have this as an option. There might be a few other minor thing Iā€™d want but itā€™s hard to get info from the Canadian dealers here. Should know better in a few months.
