I get it.. I almost did the same and bought a Ranger Raptor on the lot while waiting for my Trailhunter for months. Main thing that stopped me was that Ford wanted over MSRP and Toyota was selling me at MSRP. I got really impatient but the toyota gods have answered and delivered my Trailhunter yesterday. 100% love the Tacoma and I would have regretted buying the Ford. My saleman worked for both dealers and said he really have to sell Ford cars/trucks when Toyota sells themselves. Plus the resale values on Ford is garbage.

You canā€™t even compare the two anyways. A Maverick compares with a Hyundai Santa Cruz or a Subaru Brat šŸ¤£. Then again this whole thread is hilarious entertainment.

Predicted reliability, wow.. which engine option did you get? Did you research how

neither does the maverickā€¦ 2.0 turbo with AWD. Or ā€œadvanced 4WDā€ eight speed automatic trans or a 2.5 hybrid with a front wheel drive cvt trans. I added a screen shot from the ford website for transparency. I dot see the hybrid awd option, except on your posts

You are configuring a 2024 Maverick. Try 2025. I already ordered an AWD Hybrid Maverick.

Anyway....

I sincerely doubt he even placed the order, otherwise he would have seen the same issue I noticed:
2.0 turbocharged gas engine/8 speed auto with AWD or ā€œadvanced 4WDā€
Or
2.5 naturally aspirated hybrid in front wheel drive only.
Why are you so bitter?

That is what makes this thread so entertaining.
But then...

Attention moderator: is trolling permitted? Asking for a friendā€¦
Which one is it? Asking for a "friend" to kill a discussion in which you are trying to troll, but fail, or do you want entertainment? You cannot have both. šŸ™‚

A better question: if you are not inrerested in the topic, why are you still here whining?

I waited, and waited, and waited... Now, I am calling it quits. Toyota purchasing (or rather non-purchasing) experience has been HORRIBLE. No direct ordering. I wanted a Limited Blue hybrid with grey interior, gave my configuration to a dealership, and almost one year later, there is nothing in the area, and no idea when and if it would become available.

2025 Ford Maverick is offering an AWD Hybrid, and a choice of exterior colors that are cool (unlike boring Toyota selection). I will be much happier with that, and will save on purchase price AND gas. Ford offers direct ordering - they build MY truck to MY specefication, provide VIN and ability to track MY order. And it seems to be more reliable, too.

You had your chance, Toyota, and you blew it.
I guess do what makes you happy.

In my mind they are not comparable vehicles. One is a light truck and the other a car shaped like a pickup truck. One achieves IIHS top safety pick while the Ford gets two marginal ratings for the most important test categories.

If the Maverick can suit your needs you might not really need a light truck. I might differ from a lot of the enthusiasts here where anything but a long bed pickup would be useless. I can also accept the compromises of a pickup for regular use because we have a nice car.

They are kind of comarable.
Both are pickup trucks - one midsize, body-on-frame, the other one is a small unidody.
Both are AWD
Both are hybrid.

Of course, there is a lot of differences between them - size, curb weight, fuel economy, predicted reliability, ease of ordering, etc.

Again, I only placed an order for a Tacoma because back then, there was no AWD+hybrid Maverick. There is now.

you are trying to troll
The hypocricy is real. You are the quinessentail troll for even starting this thread letting people know of your departure. (complete troll move). Literally no one cares that you are leaving a brand will all enjoy for reasons THAT ARE YOUR FAULT for thinking the brand actually does custom orders and can't get you what you want. You sound like the kid on the playground taking home his soccer ball and hoping everyone calls you back.

You are buying an SUV that does not and NEVER gets compared to the Tacoma. You are being mocked literally by every poster on here and your replies yet you keep trying to call other people out as trolls, unhappy, mad etc etc etc.

We get it. You are departing and your plane is taking off. Jump on and head on over to the Maverick forums where I am sure you will meet actual like minded people that love your participation.

Looking at your numerous postings, I would never tell... šŸ¤ And your bitterness. And your fuming. "No-one cares", but you are here for a second consecutive day.

And this thread was started to share my Tacoma ordering experience and the outcome. which this forum is exactly for. It's not my fault that you are having buyer's remorse, and I don't care. šŸ’

If your Tacoma cult has a rule against criticising anything Tacoma, including ordering experience, well, I am not a member of your cult, and the rule doesn't apply to me.

You are buying an SUV that does not and NEVER gets compared to the Tacoma.
And you've bought an SUV that will NEVER compare to a real truck, 53' semi-trailer.
See how that sort of reasoning goes?

It's Saturday, forget about this thread and try to enjoy your weekend.

There's a lot neat about the Maverick outside of its craptacular crash ratings, but when we tested it and the Santa Cruz things we had in back of our minivan and Outback would not fit in them. The to me no good 5 and 5.5 ft beds on mid and full-sized pickups were bad too. IIRC Maverick was only 2000 lbs tow capacity which was a red flag against out Outback and Sienna too.

The Maverick is certainly a neat vehicle and selling well. I hope it works out well for you and Ford fixes their safety ratings. Safety ratings are really important to us because we lost a family member in an accident not his fault. It illustrated the importance including for the whole fleet to get AEB and crash avoidance.
