Agree with all that. But I am willing to wait to see how it plays out and I’m going to go off-road anyway. I’ll see how it goes.
Maybe Toyota is building a fleet of recovery helicopters to bring back their dead off road trucks. :)

Pretty sad all the Morse code says “one bad ass off-road truck” but….font take it off-road or you could be stranded

I guess the off road risk depends on where you live. In central Virginia most trails are pretty rugged and you could get stranded deep in the woods. I really don't see how you recover a truck 20 miles from pavement, when it is dead on a heavily wooded mountain trail.

One forum member's Tacoma died while driving through the Arizona desert, in the summer. A friend of mine almost died when his bike quit running in the Arizona desert where there was no cell coverage, so that got my attention. Maybe a satellite phone is a good option for taking a Tacoma off road.

I’m sure it’s in their 2025 business plan. But seriously, I’m an all or nothing guy. I’m in until I’m out. If I get stuck on a trail and Toyota doesn’t make it 100% right for me, I’m out. And I’ll make it clear to them how much future business they lost because I spend stupid money on trucks. I’ll grab a trialmaster Grenadier (almost bought one anyways) and be on my way. But for now I’m still a diehard toyota guy.

As for gas mileage, I just got 21.5 on an entire tank, but a detail I forgot in our earlier exchanges is that I went to premium gas (89 octane).

Cheers.

Tell ya what , the shudder and vibration is more annoying and concerning to me then how the transmission shifts weird sometimes. I’ve spent stupid money on Toyota trucks too and I’m a loyalist but this whole mess has me questioning everything

Y’all need to zoom out a little. I’m going to install my HD Diamondback bed cover this weekend and my custom plates. Let’s keep each other posted on transmission issues.

Can't argue with that - I am usually just a deal with it and move on kind of guy. For whatever reason this problem has gotten to me. I guess it is tough coming to the understanding that not all Toyota products can be trusted and that I have very little control in this situation.

My RCI sliders come next Monday and I will be installing them soon, and I will stay in touch when/if something changes with my truck.

One thing I will suggest is getting Carista and monitoring transmission temps. Mine are consistently between 100 and 200 degrees. That seems normal but I’ll test it further next month off road. If you guys monitor temps please report

Yeah - Toyota has always damped down engine reading so they don't alarm drivers. They did that back even when we had analog gauges.

I talked to brand engagement and I still don't see the point, but at least I have documented not being happy.

Wow ! You just enlightened Me. I thought the shudder and vibration was coming from my factory roof rack not the tranmission. I even beefed up the the small grommets to larger ones after reading a thread on roof rack vibration. Great to know the tranmission replacement will fix it.
I'll keep you all posted on the how long the replace parts take to get in. My dealer said anywhere from a week to a month, but I heard someone had a A/C problem and their truck was down for three months waiting on a part.
Being a long time Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner owner I'll hang in there with them on the recalls. But they need to get their quality control back in order, as they're most likely losing new customers on these Tacoma and Tundra issues.

This morning had my hybrid system shutdown after shuttering, tried to drive truck the rest of the way into work and truck wouldn’t shift out of first gear. No check engine light but getting it towed into the dealership today.

I seen your post earlier on Facebook. Dam shame but at least your truck will get fixed unlike those of us driving around with garbage shifting transmissions
