I got a new phone and now after setup it pops up and says I have to plug-in to use Android Auto. I was wondering if anyone else came across this and has an idea of permission settings or something? Ive tried a couple restarts of both the phone and vehicle. Previous phone was working fine (Samsung Galaxy s22 to Galaxy S25).

When mine does that occasionally, I usually restart the head unit on the truck, then go to settings>bluetooth>"my phone"> then tap the Use for Android Auto slider and it'll reconnect.

ETA: Using a Pixel 7

mine does that as well. its usually when im on long trips or the phone has a lot of background apps running. sometimes it will auto reconnect, if not i just go through display and reconnect. I have not been able to pin point the exact reason. maybe the app needs an update or reinstall?

Haven't had that on my truck but I just had it in a rental car Rav4. I went into Bluetooth on the car and forgot the phone, then reconnected Bluetooth only without plugging in the cable and wireless worked again.

I’ve had this happen to me as well. CarPlay and android auto has been buggy on every car I’ve ever owned that’s had it.

Question: Can anyone confirm wired Android auto and/or CarPlay works? I thought it was disabled on vehicles with wireless support --> namely to block the aftermarket/hacking accessories..

Mine works wired or not. Until I finally found the ‘use for Android auto’ slider, it only worked wired.

I use mine exclusively wired on long trips, wireless drains my battery pretty quickly at about 1% every few minutes, and my phone gets hot. I'd much rather plug it in, get the better response times for playing/skipping music, and show up to my destination with a full battery.
Short trips I'll use it wirelessly, but it sometimes takes a while to pair on its own. I have a Google Pixel 6a, not sure if that matters here

Anyone seen anything with respects to relocating the wired CarPlay port? I'm not a big fan of leaving a CarPlay AI box hanging off the side of the HU, basically sitting on my dash..
