Oil pressure gauge reading

Wanted to ask u guys that where does ur oil pressure gauge stays normally when speeding up or when driving steady speed .
i don’t remember what oil pressure use to be when got this new but after my first oil change i stated checking it - it would be 3 lines when speeding up or cold start and 2/5 when steady speed but after my second oil change i noticed a difference - so now it stays around 2/5 to 2/75 lines when reving engine up to speed and 1/75 line during idle and close to 2 lines when steady speed speed . So i saw that oil pressure dropped after second oil change

Used same amount of oil both times 1st time i used mobil 1 full synthetic 0w20 , second time it was liquimoly synthetic

u guys think is it because of different oil brand or some something else . And also is it normal or something wrong

I have not actually watched my oil pressure gauge but will report back with a baseline reading for you tomorrow. I am totally infatuated with the boost gauge. Enchanted no doubt.

Yes, I've noticed it moving around. The oil pressure is not constant but operates under a variable-speed oil pump. Similar to my '21 Silverado. Anyhow, I'd prefer to see the actual PSI, rather than a rising or lowering of a bar graph. I like to monitor the oil pressure constantly, but the way the gauges are setup in the truck you have to trade things off to get what you want, anyhow I'm sure you know what I mean.

As for oil affecting oil pressure -- I suppose that could be the case here, but you're using the same oil viscosity as what the truck should have come with. I'm sure everything is fine, again I'd prefer to see actual PSI, more useful.

Would you mind reporting back on this guys I have the opposite issue I think my dealer put too much oil in and now when I’m driving, it’s sort of is sitting in the middle when it used to be at a lower pressure. I believe when I floor it, it goes up to three out of four bars, what is normal?

Oil pump looks like it's driven by the crankshaft (in olden days it was usually driven by the distributor) so it's going to vary some with the engine RPM. Mine usually runs about halfway (2 bars) when fully warmed up and at moderate speed.

I never paid attention until I did the first oil change myself and I got a little paranoid. The oil pressure seems to be a little higher upon startup and for a bit afterwards. It drops a little lower after driving for a bit and it does go up and down more than I would have thought. I've never seen it reach the halfway mark.

Load would have no impact on it, only engine rpm.
It's possible I'm mistaken, and they've moved to electric oil pumps (there's a scary thought) but the image at Toyota parts site shows a gear on the front>

I mean, load and RPM correspond somewhat but sure - high RPM and it gets to about 3/4 bars.

Most engine oil systems have a pressure relief that prevents the oil pressure from getting too high, so I would not worry about the upper pressure. Usually the concern is that the pressure is too low, but I assume there is a warning if that happens. These trucks seem to warn you about just about everything else, so why not that?

You would think. But I’m not sure how sophisticated the electronics are for accurately measuring oil level. I also think the margin is probably crazy wide but I would rather it be correct to avoid issues

Yeah - I don't expect that it measures oil level, just pressure. If the level puts it below an acceptable pressure, then I do think you will get a warning. If the pressure goes above a set point, it will just release the pressure internally, with no damage done.

I also like my engine oil level to be right on the mark, which is another reason I usually do oil changes myself. I had free oil changes on my Tundra but I never used any of them. At most dealerships the entry level techs do oil changes, and screw ups are not all that uncommon. My wife's Infiniti left the dealership with two oil plug gaskets, which caused the drain plug to back out and it almost died. Luckily I saw the oil on our garage floor before that happened. When we told the service manager he wasn't even surprised and just offered her a free detailing.

It certainly approaches it but I've never seen it actually right at the middle(or below). I'll try to pay more attention today if I remember.
