Fully admit I am a complete newbie when it comes to suspension. Between adding 300lbs of weight (rock sliders + skid plates) and slightly bigger tires than stock (285/70/17), the Tacoma is squating about 1-2 inches more than stock. I'd like to get it back up to stock level...not an obnoxious lift.

What are my options? My newbie brain says I need stiffer springs rather than a lift (spacers or otherwise)...that adding spacers will not increase my range of travel. My main goal is to increase range of travel back to stock. Hitting medium potholes at slow/medium speeds off-roading, I can feel the front end suspension bottoming out.

Tons of good information in this thread. As always I'd recommend giving Dobinsons a call and asking their recommendation but just based on your description I'd guess you would want their lightest spring, which would be the C59-817V (they actually do make one lighter but it's for a stock load). There's a chart in post #7 of the thread.

In addition to springs (which obviously I think are a good idea or I wouldn't have replaced mine...) you might also consider replacing the stock bump stops. The stock stops are pretty useless. If you're going fast enough you're going to bottom out even the most aggressive spring at some point. Timbren spacers (just for example, there are others) provide far more "squish" than the stock spacers and provide an extra layer of cushion for when you inevitably hit the bump stops.

Also, your wheels and tires definitely affect the ride and handling of the truck but they don't affect the "squat". The truck has to work harder with them because of the rotational mass they add but they aren't loading the suspension. They would be considered "unsprung" weight.

I recently put an Outfitters Caribou Lite on my Off Road w/6ft bed and stock tires. I also have a front skid plate and rock sliders from RCI. I installed Timbren SES bump stocks and Icon triple rate springs with 1/2" lift. I have only lost a 1/2" from original set.
