Painted Brake Calipers

Not sure how Bob painted his but I just masked them up and went for it. I’ll stick to my day job.

Very nice job, only thing you need to watch out for, is make sure you use a high heat paint.

I agree. I used G2 which is a high temp paint specifically used for brake calipers but is extremely chemical resistant and have seen it repair itself from scratches once the calipers get hot… and you can get it standard or custom colors($65 v $130, while that’s a substantial difference, go to your local paint shop like O’Reillys where they mix whatever colors you can fathom OR go to Hobby Lobby and get the “pearl pigments” you just add to your paint… this is what I chose and it was just blue base with 10% gold and 40% purple pearl… I was a paint and body specialist for a decade plus 5yrs after high school).

Not hating your workmanship, either of you, but I am wondering something. Not sounding insensitive since we all have different tastes and goals for our vehicles but I did my caliper coatings on my Porsche GT2RS,, my 650hp Tahoe and my RX7 FD, all SEMA builds… so not only did they need to withstand enormous amount of heat but be flawless since they were on display with wheels you could see the minute details. (Just a few pics of the color on my Porsche and my Tahoe with its gold accents.). Anyways, if you’ve got the factory TRD wheels or anything that doesn’t have a slim 5-6 spoke wheel, you’re really not going to see them or (worse case scenario), if you off road, they won’t even stay clean and may even scratch up which will end up in having to repaint them repeatedly. I guess im just curious unless you have something like the last picture. (Have to laugh at that “build”.)

Your paint is a little rich for my blood but I'm sure it's amazing stuff, Think I paid $11.

My Tacoma is a limited, so no off road plans, just a street performer. My 2021 F150 had the same treatment done, while it only had 10,000 miles on it when I sold it, the calipers were still perfect.

Not a lot shows through the wheels but what does is a light silver so sticks out in my opinion. Trying to make her show well. I even removed that ugly tail pipe completely by just doing a 45 degree cut on the end. I think it gives it a much cleaner look.

I get what you’re sayin. You can kind of see them through my wheels though. My recover hooks are also red so I figured why not. Also I’m just having a blast doing all sorts of stuff to my truck.

Smart idea to cut it. Definitely looks a lot cleaner. I went with the NYTOP Axle Dump.
