This isn’t a Toyota specific problem. Have had wireless car play since it was “brand new” and not truly a thing unless you bought Alpine’s (ILX-107) head unit that created a WiFi network to do wireless phone mirroring. I don’t have my truck yet but the (3) fixes short of restarting the car or the unit the typically worked were 1) turning the phone into airplane mode then back on in the car 2) turning the WiFi and Bluetooth on and off on the phone manually in the car 3) reconnecting the phone to the cars wireless network for CarPlay vs reconnecting the car to the phone (depends on the system that’s brand/car specific).

Just a quick update. In the last few weeks I’ve probably used remote start 10 times. Every single time I’ve just been able to push “Use for Apple CarPlay” and it’s worked perfectly. Seems like my phone has been reconnecting automatically now.

Same here - I haven't had phone connection problems for weeks and I have not changed anything in the phone or the truck.
