It's a pickup truck. It's literally a heavy brick on wheels. It is not designed to maximize MPG. Better MPG Is nice but You can't have a vehicle that is capable of truck towing and truck utility and expect amazing MPG. At this point in time it is impossible.

Go look at a Prius. Drive it. Look at the shapes of it, the clearance, the amount it can tow. Then drive it and see how it feels. A Prius Is way more geared towards MPG but is a completely different vehicle with a lot less capabilities. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
I got 22 mpg on the highway out of my 2021 GMC Sierra AT4. 6.2 liter, 420 hp, 10 speed transmission with DoD, and it got great mileage on the highway. This truck, much lighter, 1/2 the engine size, 2 fewer gears in the transmission, and I get 4-5 mpg WORSE than that full size truck. The sierra had a higher payload, greater towing, much much larger interior, etc. I consider 22 mpg amazing mpg in a truck. It's not 30+ like I got in a rental camry or more you can get in a prius, but for a truck GMC did it right with how they maximized mpg when cruising on the highway. I don't see why toyota is so much worse when highway driving.

55lb not too bad - how much do the TRD Sport wheels weigh - and how are you liking the new duratrac RTs? What load range?
Nah not too bad but compared to the stock all seasons that I could lift with my pinky 🤣

No idea on the sport rims weight, these are load range E and they're not too bad, they definitely surprised me a couple times snow running. They can be little trickers sometimes though on pavement during the winter, and I don't trust them as far as I can throw them in the rain, I can drift all around town without even trying in the rain lol

I drive my truck conservatively but I’m not holding up traffic or anything. I use hybrid mode in traffic when possible and I only accelerate aggressively if necessary and I keep the truck at 65 or less around town. My mileage is usually good. See below. This is from this morning taking the kids to school - mix of stop and go and highway. Also, my rotational mass is sensible and my truck is unloaded most of the time - but I drive a Trailhunter brick. Not sure why we all have such varying experiences.

I wish I could get that. I honestly think there's something different about some of these trucks that make the mileage calculation incorrect or otherwise a setting somewhere on some. I have never ever ever gotten anywhere close to that and I don't speed or jackrabbit start. I have a TRD Sport.

That is weird. I’ve done the math on gallons used and distance traveled and it checks out. I will note that my truck always says I’m going 1mph faster than I actually am so that’s the truck cheating a little bit.
