Premium Audio Package Quality or lack of

After 150 miles, I am getting used to the premium sound system. It sounds okay to me as Long as you don’t take it over a volume setting of ~42.

Stumbled across this on YouTube. Wonder how long until someone locally gets one into 4G Tacoma.. seems like it may be a good upgrade with the inconclusive reviews thus far. Hopefully the portable JBL doesn't add additional complexity to the amp?

I auditioned this system yesterday and was underwhelmed. I only tried the sat radio. In my wife's 5.0 with the Bang and Olufsen system, I typically listen to FLAC audio on a thumb drive, so I am spoiled. Even my JL with very loud road noise, sounds better. Of course, both of those vehicles offer much more space for larger drivers then is available in the Tacoma.

I was surprised that there is not a separate subwoofer volume control. The truck puts way too much bass through the dash/door speakers, overwhelming the drivers. It would probably sound much better to let the subwoofer do more of the lifting (if it's capable). To be fair, I did not spend a lot of time with it. In addition, the controls are slides. Would it have been too hard to program in + and - adjustment buttons?

I'm sure the aftermarket will provide some relief. Interested in what the sub builders will do with the space under the rear seat.

I think the system sounds better without the portable. There needs to be a way of reducing the input to the speaker. The owners manual shows a setting under levels to turn off the surround and says "if equipped". I have the Canadian top spec sport premium and this setting is not there. Could this just be a software issue?

Premium Package is supposed to come with acoustic glass on the TRD OR and Sport.

My OR Premium indeed says laminated acoustic glass on the driver and front passenger windows.

I think the sound system sounds fine, I rarely go above 25. Flex speaker is okay for me as well. I was never one of those guys back in the day that when looking at stereos would blast the sound to try and judge the quality if the system...lol!

I'm coming from a Joying radio and the Kicker speaker upgrades with the Subaru tweeters in my 2020 TRD Sport. I am pleased with the sound, so if the JBL sounds any better than that, I will be super pleased.

Thx, that's what I have as well.. owners manual shows one in levels but I can't find it. IMO that's what the system needs to sound better

Want to add one more point as most of the early reviewers made notice of the large volume button for the 14” screen optioned JBL sound systems. The size is perfect to me and I don’t think it’s all that large. It feels normal adjusting the volume with my bare hands, wish they had a second one for tuning the radio. You can also see how dusty the surface of the HVAC control display gets after just two weeks of driving.

Any car audiophiles here to pitch a plan of how one might grab full range signal from the factory head unit to allow for aftermarket DSP amplifier and clean signal to better quality speakers/sub?

Does anyone know if the Premium JBL audio system is the same, whether you order it in a Sport package, or get the standard system that comes in the Limited? Having a difficult time comparing them on dealer websites. I'm evaluating the Sport vs. Limited, and want to make sure I don't regret going with the Sport Premium audio. Thanks
