I've taken my taco off-roading a few times and I usually air down to about 23-25 PSI. I'm running stock tires and wheels. I'm curious to find out what other people are airing down to when they take their trucks off the beaten path. Trying to figure out what is safe for my adventures!

What is stock pressure for you? Stock pressure for my TH is 30 and I go down to 23 PSI also for dirt roads which are bumpy enough. I switched my tires to the AT4Ws with a C load rating.

Same recommended 30 psi for my TRD OR.

I was surprised that both the dealer and my tire shop gave the truck to me at around 39 psi on delivery. Someone said in an earlier thread that they overinflate tires during transport, so maybe the dealer didn't air the tires down during pre delivery inspection. But I don't know why the tire/wheel shop also inflated the new tires so high.

I'm running AT4Ws as well, so good to know about that 23 psi range for off road.

They did the same to me also, 40 psi and it was so rough. The shop might put them high to get the tire to sit.

Yeah that would be 23psi warm.

How are you finding the AT4Ws? I haven't found any faults with them so far

I like them too. Not too noisy, on road handling is fine, don't know about off road yet.

I changed back to stock wheels/tires for a longer trip and hated how heavy the AT4Ws were when putting them back on, but that's to be expected for 285s I think. Oh, and they definitely kill the gas mileage.

Same here, because I read a previous thread about the same topic, I requested to my sales person to take care of that when picking my new Taco, but after driving a few days and feeling the hard tires I was curious and surprised, they were 39 and 40 psi, air down to the recommended 30 psi and what a big difference on the ride, smooth!!

The tires have straps around the tires when they are secured to the truck. Ratcheted super tight. That's why the tires are over inflated. (these are older models in the pic, but they still do it this way)

I'm running 30 psi for the most part. 23 seems reasonable for the air down to me. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm thinking of eventually going with the Nitto Terra Grapplers in 285/70/r17 mainly because they have a standard load (SL) version instead of going with a C load tire because of the gas mileage. I do enjoy off-road but don't get out enough to go with C load tires.

Update: Got my 285/70/17 (SL) Nitto Terra Grappler G3s. I've only driven them a bit so far but they feel great. The truck doesn't feel much different so I'm thinking the gas mileage won't be affected too much. We'll see how that goes. For now, I'm really liking them. I have an off-road get together on 3/1 so I'm looking forward to getting them out on the trail!
