Hello all,

first post here so sorry if this is in the wrong place. I am looking to buy the Kuat Ibex for my truck and from what I’ve seen online and in some YouTube videos I don’t believe it will block or hinder the rear view mirror camera or bed camera located in the third brake light. HOWEVER, if anyone has this rack installed and can post a pic of their rear view mirror camera to show that it doesn’t block or show up in frame. I would appreciate that. Thanks in advance.

I’ve done a lot of research on this rack since I will be installing it on my truck integrated with the Retrax Pro XR cover. The rack alone without the panels will not affect the cameras. However, if you use a RTT then I would build it in the high position in order to see into your truck bed with the camera. If you end up installing the panels, then you will loose the third brake light camera.

I was looking into this rack as well, and I was thinking of setting it up in the lower position with RTT (assuming my rollup bed cover fit under it). I was hoping to come across someone else who tried this to see if the camera still worked. Theirs a 4th gen taco on instagram who has install videos and stuff for the kuat rack. Im also hearing theirs relocation kits for that camera.

This will only work with certain retractable covers. See the web site for specifics. That’s why I have the Retrax Pro XR. The Ibex integrates in the T slots. Roll covers will NOT work.

Here is the Küat bed rack in the high position on my Trailhunter.

It doesn't obstruct the rear view mirror camera and you can also see into the bed of your truck on the screen. Everything works as intended with this bed rack from Küat. The Ibex is awesome!!!

Wow that is awesome! thank you so much for the response and pictures. I did notice that you have the racks on the height extenders, do you think if you had them in the regular height t-slots that those would still not obstruct the views?

I think you can get away with it on the low setting of the crossbar riser kit, but if you're planning to run a roof rack in front of the bed rack over the cab, you'll need to run it in the high position. But after looking at it, I don't know if it will block the camera behind the cab if you don't have the riser kit. Sorry I couldn't be more help on that question.

Also I should note:
On the high setting of the crossbar riser kit, it allows the bottom of my rooftop tent to clear the shark fin antenna on the cab. If you have a mini version tent that doesn't overhang over the cab, then you don't have to worry about the riser kit. But if you have a full size tent like the one I have that overhangs the cab, you need the riser kit so that way your tent doesn't smash the antenna.

I wish I could get the Kuat to mount to my diamondback. Right now my only options are UpTop and Trukd. If anyone has tried those with a DB let me know.
