Remote start from FOB

I haven’t yet tried remote start from the fob; I just assumed it didn't have that feature. Definitely need to try it out, but I can confirm what others have likely noticed: the fob seems to have pretty short range. With both my old jeeps, I could lock and unlock them from inside my house and across the street. The Tacoma’s seems something like 20 feet, unobstructed.

The range on the fob for me seems pretty good, I've unlocked/locked from at least 60 feet away.

My 2024 is still in boxes in Baja. Any idea what the range is with the key fob? Perhaps about as far as the lock feature works, I suppose?

It’s not very far. I would guess 30-40 feet. Almost useless from the fob. Not 2-way either so you don’t know if it started

Gave it another shot just now, and it worked! The final button hold did feel long, closer to 5 sec as some others have said.

Tried it this morning and it works! Two quick presses and a long hold. Thanks n118nw for sharing this. I scoured every manual my truck came with and couldn’t find this feature mentioned anywhere.

My key fob and the Toyota app will no longer start my 2024 Taco. The app will lock the doors but not start the engine. Toyota support after walking me through all the things to check suggested I should bring to the dealer and have the remove all DTC's. I wonder if just disconnecting the battery would work

Did you ever get this fixed? Dealing with the exact same issue. I can lock/unlock all the things but the fob and remote start feature from the app both suddenly stopped working.
