Is the solar power considered an essential? Or do our Trailhunter inverters take on that duty well enough?
We have a 140w panel for our trailer and I would consider it essential for off-grid camping. It generally keeps up with our electrical demand which includes an ARB refrigerator, trailer fan, device charging, lights, and combi water heater/cabin heater.

I have not attempted charging my trailer batteries with my trucks hybrid system. For us, shore power goes through a 2000 watt inverter and I am not sure how well that will play with the 2400 watts the Tacoma is supposed to provide. I think usefulness of charging off the Tacoma will largely depend on the trailers electrical setup and what your unique electrical demand will be.

I guess lots of us have the same story. Wife and I spent decades camping out of my 84 Forerunner, 98 Taco, and ultimately setup a 2019 TRD OR to be our retirement camping vehicle before realizing that we weren't kids anymore and sleeping in the back of a truck wasn't great. Bought a TAXA Cricket and have used it extensively. Expensive for the size (15 ft), but is light (GVW < 2800 lbs), trails great (trailer breaks with no anti-way required), and provides all the necessities while all fitting in my normal sized garage. I put mine on garage rollers and slide it to the side of the garage out of the way when not in use. Have towed it with the 2019 Taco and most recently with a Subaru Outback. Bought my 2024 Taco Limited to tow it with and this spring will be the inaugural trip. Can't wait!

After a significant amount of research, I purchased a DoDrop ALPHA from Oregon Trail'R last month. I needed something small enough to fit in my garage next to the Tacoma while still allowing other storage room.

I plan to use it for up to multi-week trips around the western US while working remote via Starlink, in addition to the quick weekend trips. I wanted something that offered the essentials while also not too much comfort that would defeat the purpose of getting outdoors and camping.
