Just put around 500 miles on my SXTH Element intake through the mountains up to Lake Tahoe and back. During a severe storm also. No complaints. Don’t support these bigger companies with garbage products.

Your getting the same dtc P010064 MAF
Dude I’m having same issues on my hybrid version and had to go back to oem. I have to pick up my truck tomorrow and will talk to parts department to take this part back. I’m upset that I used vin to obtain this part and was confirmed it would be plug and play with no issues.
Same dtc P010064 MAF sensor is throwing a fault on your Hybrid as well? with the new TRD Pro Air Intake System??

Yes I talked with the dealership and it has something to do with the tune/ecu on the car from factory. They advised to return part and wait a year till Toyota patches it.

Can not believe that the hybrid would follow in the same footprint as a non hybrid? Then they should be working on the cal id then per fix.. let me guess they couldn’t update the ecu?

I’m positive it’s the increase in air from the CAI and the MAF being stubborn. Yes they did not want to touch it but they were honest and said the trucks are still to new for them to confidently do anything to ecu.

All in all Toyota should not have rushed this part without testing it. Dealer said same thing

Do you need a tune after installing if you want performance gains?

Curious you have a non hybrid or hybrid Tacoma? Any faults?

needed to ask, do you have an aftermarket air intake in mind instead of the factory trd pro?

Non hybrid. No faults
I just ordered a MagnaFLow Overland Exhaust and now looking CAI...keeping an eye on SXTH and GMAK621. I'm in AZ, will seldom see snow, a little rain but a shit ton of dust.

I don't buy the argument that colder air will do anything for a turbocharged engine that has an intercooler to cool the air after it's pressurized, especially since the air isn't coming from the engine bay in the stock configuration.
technically, you’re right… it can seem gimmicky to say the least… esp from a brand that has been known in the performance community to focus solely on Nissan and Infiniti. (Seems interesting and disheartening all at once that they are now making moves to build Toyotas being their competitor). Now turbos and supercharging is my forte (right next to audio and electrical), having built not only a procharged XRunner (2004), MSM MX5, Garrett G25-550 on a 2 door JL Rubicon going from 280hp/296tq to 441hp/493tq and a 1995 RX7 FD 20B-TT with 977hp…

Anyways, yes, the the intercooler is a heat exchanger to cool the compressed air into the turbocharger. However,
a modified intake system enhances airflow before it reaches the turbocharger, while the intercooler cools the compressed air after the turbo. A high-flow cold air intake or short ram intake allows the turbo to ingest more air with less restriction.
By improving airflow into the turbo, the compressor side can pressurize air more quickly, reducing turbo lag.

In simplest of terms (not being demeaning, but I do get excited and nerdy when it comes to this kind of information)…

Cooler air in means less work for the intercooler thus decrease in turbo lag so it gets faster and more efficient. Normal driving, before intercooler, you’re about 250-400deg… after intercooler about 90-120deg… with a CAI you’ll be right around ambient temp (so for me, todays been around 71-73 deg), this equates to all the efficiency of both the intercooler and CAI to be around how it feels outside, given everything is designed and works as it should.

Lemme know what you decide with SXTH. Dont go through a third party like ExtremeTerrain or others… go through the company directly and talk to Zach, the marketing director of SXTH Element. He did me a solid and not only did I get my exhaust within a day but he got me a bunch of extras, free shipping and a discount some I bypassed third parties. Tbh, Magnaflow is decent, I used to run it on my JL Rubicon but it’s not going to give you a lot of power ( the factory tube is going to give the best amount based on both exhaust options from factory), MBRP, MahaFlow, aFe, etc are all the same size exhaust just “pretty looking and gives a small increase in sound but I found those 2 brands specifically, added some raspiness not evident on YouTube channels and had to experience it first hand between that and annoying drone at highway speeds. Now, the reason I also went with SXTH is they did an amazing job duplicating the factory Trailhunter exhaust (stay far away from NYTOP since they are overpriced at $250 and being a titanium, it will never be seen to appreciated) but SXTH’s is “cheaper” than Toyota’s, has no rasp or drone, increase in power since it’s an axle dump and the welds are superb… only $100 retail but I got mine for much less. Plus you reuse your gasket and 1 hanger, save 14lbs and have full clearance off road.
