Well I do have a little issue with my tacoma, Sometimes when I put the car into Drive it shifts pretty hard to D first time after when the trucks been sitting. Also when I come out of 4 HI it sometimes transfers into 2 HI hard. and other than that its perfect.

A lot of people complain about this. The key is to really press hard on the brake pedal when shifting into gear.

People have trouble with vehicles. They come to online resources to vent, get help and affirmation. "influencers" try to use these opportunities to their benefit, which is greasy, but it's pretty easy to ignore them and not give them any additional attention. Drama is created on both sides. Irony always lives in these posts. It's funny.

While I get the sensationalists are cashing in on drama and dog piling and people not wanting to give time of day to that the aside issue is that having catastrophic transmission issues, of whatever frequency, this early on from a mileage perspective is not acceptable for a brand like Tacoma that sells based on their mechanical reliability and prices their vehicles accordingly.

You also cannot completely divorce these reports from what is happening with the 3rd gen Tundra which has a 2 year lead on the 4th gen Tacoma.

Eventually perception and by extension resale value get affected whether or not your truck has these issues.

3rd gen had some issues in 2016-2017 but I do not remember hearing about guys waiting 3-4 months for a manual transmission to show up in a crate - which by now MT is basically ancient technology that you really need to be trying hard to cost cut in order to mess it up to where it stops working below 300 kilometers on the odo.

I wouldn’t be so quick to claim they’re cutting costs for a manual, they specifically lowered the output horsepower to try and not break the drivetrain, whatever the issue is, like with the voluntary recall (all on Toyota) for the tundra engines, as inconvenient as anything could be Toyota isn’t leaving you high and dry, the car care nut has a great new video out today specifically on the tundra engine recall and explains why it takes so long for change to happen

It's true, there's always chatter online, especially about new models. I remember when I got my first truck, a lot of mixed opinions online made me second-guess my choice. But like you, once I started using it, everything was smooth sailing. It's great that your transmission's working fine—reliable performance is what matters most.

If you ever need options down the road, places like Suncoast Transmission might have a 700r4 transmission for sale if you're ever looking to explore upgrades or replacements.
