22 tacoma sport 25 tacoma sport on order
New to this forum but have been lurking and reading a lot of great information here. So I placed a deposit on a order for a new Tacoma Sport with 6 foot box.
I presently have a 22 Sport that I purchased new and really settled for the truck I have with a 5 foot box. It's been a decent truck so far for a gen3. Main dislikes is the automatic transmission, the seats are not comfortable and the engine has no low end torque. Fuel economy isn't the best especially for the low power engine.
So I go to the local dealership and they have a 25 Tacoma Sport with a 6 foot bed wrong color for me and I am not settling again. Salesperson says have you driven one yet, nope I replied and he goes and gets a plate and key fob.
What I exactly told him during my drive was wow this is the Tacoma that Toyota should have built last gen. I couldn't believe the difference in trucks. The truck I drove was a Sport without any package upgrades. So manual seats etc. This truck is so improved that it's hard to believe it's from the same manufacturer. Has plenty of low end torque to get the truck moving and maintain speed. Those manual seats are perfect. The steering is spot on for a truck and no more gear hunting from that 6sp transmission.
Now that being said with this new truck seems like Toyota is only doing package upgrades for what was once normal. I ordered the middle Sport upgrade package for the power seats and the rear slider window. At almost 5000.00 they should almost be ashamed. Yes it comes with heated seats and steering wheel and jbl speakers but dam $5000 and I really don't care about heated seats or steering wheel. Go to the next package and it's almost 10000.00 dam. I keep you all guessing on the color I ordered.
They did go into allocations when I was there and seen 4 trucks not yet built but my color and options.

Supersonic Red is my guess.

My guess is Solar Octane. Welcome to the club. I have the upgrade package as well on my sport. Here in CO, I really wish the heated steering wheel was warmer, it’s unfortunately not very useful in comparison to my previous Audi. The heated seats work great though.

I believe Solar Octane is no longer an option on 2025. My guess would be Blue Crush.

I can understand the pricing cringe but I will highlight that many of the features of Safety Sense 3.0 are potentially add-ons from other manufacturers.

I priced comparable feature sets across Colorado/Canyon and the Ranger and they all end up within a couple grand of each other, excluding the halo trims.

Cheers to not settling. I waited 15 months to get the exact configuration I wanted and I think it's worth it.

My guess is Bronze Oxide; its the only color that hasn't been mentioned yet.

For Sports, there's so many *pretty* colors, I doubt you'd settle for the 4 shades of grey (Black/Underground/White/Silver) since these are always in abundance at dealership lots.

That is something that a lot of people seem to overlook. I priced several Tacoma trims against Colorados and Canyons and when they are similarly equipped all the prices are very close.

No midsize is cheap these days, and Tacos are still in the game price wise. I also agree with the OP that some trims lack things that would have been standard in the past, but that gives people more choices and the chance to buy closer to what they want/need.

Shop around and you'll get good discounts AND the color you want. I like the darker colors for the sport they match the aggressive look of the hood "vent." I say you went with underground.

Also, you have to determine what features are important to you when considering the major package(upgrade package, premium, or no package at all).

Goodluck!

You are correct the Bronze Oxide to me is a great new color.
