This is why the outdated “old school” franchised business model needs to die.

Tesla and Rivian have the best new car business model in the industry. A super easy selling transaction conducted on your smart phone through the app. No upselling, sleazy salesman or high pressure finance room scumbags to deal with.

I keep saying this, I even wrote to Toyota because here on the east coast many of my local dealers have huge markups some $10K and up.

But here is the thing... WE are the problem ! Well not me because I refuse to pay it and I make it known! Us the consumers should be using these forums as we do to call out the dealers that try to rip us off and more so let the honest and fair dealers be known so they get the business. Let the marked up ones sit there on the lots guys !!!! Teach these dealers a lesson. They will keep marking up as long as they sell ! And write to Toyota support and complain. I did and the dealer (who I still didn't buy from called me back $5,000 less) he had a $6K markup said it was a mistake.

Everyone should start listing the dealer and the experience and markups or discounts and we all help each other.

I ordered mine at Hudson Toyota in Jersey City , NJ so far only a deposit but the price I was promised was MSRP. But even that it actually over but with with it being a new Gen I think that's the best we will hope for this early in the game.

The real questions is there actually paint and window protection on it? No real way to tell unless it’s that thin plastic protector that you can see. How do we really know they out a ceramic coating on the truck. The tint on the truck is illegal in the state it’s being sold in.

Ya they have a guy in the back they pay minimum wage to pour some wax on it and tell you its ceramic coating. One dealer I went to with markup has dealer package $6k with that and PIN STRIPING ? I was like why would I want that on my TACOMA plus pay you for it ?

It's 1998. Pin striping is in. I had it on my Ford Contour. Totally recommend.

Holy shit! I got a phone call but let it go to voicemail. It was a “Sergeant Rodriguez” from DMV investigations asking me to call back. I did. I swear… the hold music I heard is the same one I hear when I call Toyota for service! No way these guys would impersonate a government official, right? Right?
