Howdy!

I have a 2024 Taco. I don’t own a trailer or anything to attach to my hitch. But sometimes when I am hauling something around in my bed, I get this warning. Well, this past weekend when I was hauling something in my bed, the warning came on and now it’s stuck on. I saw a couple other threads about connecting a trailer and disconnecting it but the problem is I don’t have anything like that. I’m not sure how to turn it off. Could it be something that after so many miles it just goes off on its own?

There's a TSB that should fix it.
Thanks, I’m not familiar with what TSB is? Tech Service Bulletin?

If you know of any documentation that I could follow I’d appreciate. Thanks for the help!

I just want to update this thread in case it helps anyone else. I took it to the dealer and had them run the TSB code mentioned in this post. And unfortunately, it didn’t work. They did tell me of a method to hook up a trailer drive it forward 6 feet then unhook the trailer and that should do the trick. But the problem is I don’t have a trailer.

So I thought about how the issue started. And it’s when I put something that I was moving in the bed of my truck with the tailgate down and the issue is that it recognizes a trailer for some reason when there is weight in the bed and the tailgate is open. I made the mistake of clicking OK that a trailer was connected when it actually wasn’t and that’s how it got stuck being on.

So now that I’m home, I tried opening the tailgate and I put two dumbbells on the tailgate to give it some weight and sure enough it detected a trailer again, and I was able to cancel and turn it off.

Weird how it all worked out but in case anybody else needs a strange trick like that there you go.
