TRD Pro Iso Seats - is it a deal breaker?

@Romer A Pro is really just a Toyota build on a Off-Road, so buying that and doing your own build can get you exactly what you want. When I had more time and less cash I built my own trucks, and I would have started with your truck. But now it is the opposite for me and I love my truck. I think it is cool that Toyota gives us different trucks for different needs.

The seats are super comfortable, even though you don't really need the suspension, so for me they are not a waste. It would have been cool if you could option a Pro with the seats from a Trailhunter. But everyone who has ridden in my truck comments on the great bolstering and how comfortable they are. I never put actual humans in the back of any of my Tacos, so the crazy lack of rear seat room is not a problem for me. I would have preferred to just have a storage area in the back.

The rock protectors are not much use off road and just yesterday I removed them and put on RCI rock sliders. To me the OEM protectors are like fake beadlock wheels, and doing pretend stuff like that is just dumb IMO.

Could have put a deposit on a pro in Terra but I hated the seats loved the color but went for the Trailhunter instead..love my truck

Had a deposit on a pro for over a year. I knew that backseat space may be an issue, but figured I would wait to see in-person. My truck hit the dealership in August, went down to size it out. I'm 6'2, and I was super comfortable in the front seat, but with my height it nearly eliminated the back seat space. With two kids, it was a no go. VERY tough to walk away from a truck I was waiting on for so long. One week later, dealer called and had someone bail on their TH order. Three weeks later, I was driving away in my TH. Couldn't be happier.

I will definitely revisit the pro down the road if they make the Iso seats optional. But if you need to use the back seat in your pro for actual humans, it's a very very tough fit.

Do you have picks how the sliders look on the pro. I am playing with the idea.
I will be grabbing some soon and I will post them here and in the RCI slider thread. I think they look great and as a bonus they project far enough to give you some parking lot protection too.

It wasnt the only reason but it was a major reason I went with the trailhunter instead.

Even the TH isn't the roomiest around and while I wont have people in back all the time the Pro seats basically make it completely unusable.

Update us once you take it offroad. I've gotten a few marks on my rear fenders and the rock sliders supposedly help with that. I'm still debating which ones to get but the RCI are definitely a contender.

The trailhunter comes with a lot of things I think should've been included in the TRD Pro.

Update us once you take it offroad. I've gotten a few marks on my rear fenders and the rock sliders supposedly help with that. I'm still debating which ones to get but the RCI are definitely a contender.

The trailhunter comes with a lot of things I think should've been included in the TRD Pro.
The RCI sliders are extremely beefy and they should provide good protection, but no chance to offroad with them yet. They are also wide enough to give you a small step for shorter people and still look like proper sliders.

I agree about the things they left off the Pro, with rock sliders being a big one. I also would have liked the scene lighting and onboard compressor. I guess Toyota didn't want to push the price up even higher, and seeing the reactions to the Pro's MSRP they were probably smart to leave stuff off.

Yes - they definitely work as a step for people who need them, like my wife. They are well make, look good, and are not in the way like most steps. Plus they are beefy and will provide great off road protection. They had a discount when I bought them and they were about $1,100. If you are not in a hurry they seem to have sales pretty often.

Long story short.. Had to take mine on some atv trails. Narrow and deep in places. The sliders saved my ass! Pushed me over keeping the body away from obstacles several times. Already paid for themselves.

Yes - they definitely work as a step for people who need them, like my wife. They are well make, look good, and are not in the way like most steps. Plus they are beefy and will provide great off road protection. They had a discount when I bought them and they were about $1,100. If you are not in a hurry they seem to have sales pretty often.

There were a couple occasions where, after bouncing around for an hour, I was thinking it sure would be nice to have some suspension on these seats. If you donā€™t off-road, Iā€™m not sure why youā€™d want a Pro, if you need bells and whistles and more leg room get a Limited. If you haul adults on a semi-regular basis for long trips Iā€™d seriously look at a Tundra.

I think the Taco is almost getting too big as is.

The seats definitely make a difference. I've taken the taco on some moab trails, nothing too difficult but i hit 30 mph+ on em and then re-did some parts with the seat suspension set to "off road". The ride was noticeably smoother for myself and my passenger, we both noticed it. I don't really need the rear seat space as I don't have kids, but it does make it difficult to have friends back there so idk that i'd trade the space for the seats tbh, but they work.
