I normally keep my vehicles on NOCO Genius chargers. The easiest way I've done it is to open the Fuse box under the hood on passenger side to get to the positive jump lug, and use the ground for jump starting also. I don't figure I'm hurting anything, but thought I would make sure, and would there be a better way to accomplish this?

Subscribed, I also like to leave my vehicles on a battery tender when I travel. I use CTEK but use the same approach. I think removing the rear seat is less convenient. Should we open a window though?

I was concerned with this as well, so I connected my battery tender directly to the 12v battery under the rear seat as a temporary solution. I’ll have to revisit the fuse box when I get it back from having PPF installed.

I'm a gas guy, but I saw a video where someone hooked his ditch lights to a hot post in the fuse box of his hybrid. It should work fine for a battery charger–assuming it's always hot.

I thought I saw a post about jumping the hybrids from under the hood, rather than at the battery itself, but I can't find it right now. Assuming that is true, I think that is where you would add a trickle charger, and it would be way more convenient than accessing the 12 volt under the rear seat.

Look at page 571 of the owner's manual. It shows the underhood connection in the fuse box to jump a hybrid from. I think that would also be the best place to attach a trickle charger.

It's a big fat lug for attaching a jumper cable. There's a bolt with a nut on it that's hot.

Since the underhood jump start connections are what I'm using, I'll not be concerned then. I'll admit I'm concerned about battery venting also, but I'm not interested in pulling the battery out.

I've connected a trickle charger and need to leave the hood open, obviously. I've locked the truck but this message on the IP never seems to go off. Anyone?

Ok, so went to check it after an hour...and the IP message was gone, it was turned off. Took the charger off, resting voltage 10 mins later was 13.0v. Going to check in the morning...seems like it goes down to 12.4v

I've been charging it with the jump start connections since my last post with no ill effects.

Has anyone tried to install a Trickle Charger Cable to the engine bay fuse panel for easy connection on the Hybrid? CTEK has a couple of interesting ring cables with battery indicators and quick connect.

I can't seem to find anything here or Tacoma World.

I read the owner's manual about charging the 12v in a hybrid. Toyota wants the vehicle to be outside with the negative cable unhooked when you do that. There were other things but I don't remember what they were.

Although I have used a maintainer on batteries inside my garage without problems. I always have left the hood up some, so I guess you might want to leave a door or window open to be safe. I also have never unhooked the neg terminal wire, but maybe this is all different with a hybrid.
