@TacoFreak 😜 kind of joking a bit with that comment. I absolutely love this truck! Yes, they are E load rated. I'm fairly sure BFG only offers them in a C load with the 285 and 265 sizes (17" wheels only). I have read that they will be expanding their options with the C rated tires in February, but I can't recall where I saw that. They definitely should though.

@JustAnotherDingus I weighed the Trailhunter wheels on a scale at right around 33 lbs, and I think the stock Trailhunter tires are just under 40 lbs (SL), but that's from Tirerack.com. E load tires are overkill on these trucks for sure, but a lot of folks, including myself, like the extra thickness for rougher terrain and/or sharp objects on job sites. There's definitely a tradeoff. I was initially trying to save weight for the same reasons you've stated (ride quality and fuel efficiency), and if those are a major factor in your decision, I'd be willing to bet that choices will be expanding in the coming months from the various tire manufacturers. I just didn't have the patience to wait, especially once I was finally able to get my hands on these wheels!
I hear ya on not wanting to wait! Sounds like we have/ had fairly similar considerations too. I have to pop onto gravely sites for work fairly often but my old car tires handled that just fine if I didn’t drive like a total dingus. I would like to see some more SL options out in these sizes there is deff a market for it. Thanks for the weight info too! It’s hard to find that online and I don’t really have the tools to weigh that myself right now.

I thought I read that there would be different sizes and ratings available on KO3s sometime this year. That is my first choice, but not sure I want to go all the way to an E load tire, since my truck will also be spending a lot of time on road.

Yeah - figured you were joking but Toyota started with an OR and built the TH and Pro, so it is definitely worthy.

@Kdbradley85 are your KO3's E load?

There is nothing at all lowly about an OR man, they are great trucks and the best value in a 4th gen IMO.
I don’t think BF Goodrich has released C load yet. When I was looking into this a couple of days ago, only E load were out. Their website claims they will be released in August 2025.

They have a spreadsheet online that shows every size that will be released from now until the end of 2026. I can dig it up.

So there is one magical size in the Falken AT4W. It’s the 35x11.5 — for such a colossal tire it’s only 62.6 pounds because it’s just a C load AND it’s not “HD” rated. My guess is it’s a super comfortable tire that would look positively sick on my truck. To make it work I would need to get an RRW wheel (around 22 pounds) and remove the crash bar (not sure I want to do that). That would be 84 pounds a corner which is 9 pounds less than what I’ve got now, much more of a plush tire, and super huge.

I weighed my stock TH wheels and tires and got ~74 pounds. I have switched to the Method 703 rims and Falken AT4W 285/70/17 which now weigh in 90 pounds. Will be doing a good bit of overlanding so wanted a heavier tire. Havent seen a big difference in ride between stock and new setup.. Maybe took 1 mpg hit. Trying to sell OEM setup but thinking maybe keep to run for driving around when not traveling.. Not sure how the OEM will do in rain and snow ( we get a lot of rain in east TN). And I think the overall height is almost identical wnd with the +35 offset the poke is also similar.
the closest tire is OEM TH tire, the one in back is Falken. Poke is the Falken

The SL or Load C duraspec? Could you do a side profile view for a wide angle so we can see how tall they sit? They look great.

Yours are for sure taller than the OEM because under compression tires come down about 0.75 to 1 inch.

Hey folks! I’m not the happiest with the oem wrangler RT tries as I wanted to be, and since I’ll be up in snowy places in the next month or so, I was thinking of upgrading. Right now my thoughts are landing on something sized at 275-70-r18. So a true 33x10 with the oem rim ~ I don’t think that would impact the spedo too much if at all and would prob fit fine in the spare spot. I would love to get a smaller wheel but I don’t think I can for a while. This is prob enough sidewall for the messes I get into tho!

My question for you folks is has switching to an E load absolutely killed your mpg? Or made the ride insanely harsh?

I think if I could snap my fingers I’d prob get an SL tire but they aren’t really as common in this size unfortunately (minus the Toyo at3 ev tire but I’m not really sure what that is all about??) I think the Nitto terra grappler 3s come in SL too. I would love to live in a world where most of my driving is on dirt but this is also my daily so I’m trying to be somewhat realistic with my choices. This is also my first proper 4x4 truck so I’m trying to lean about all this tire stuff along the way. :)

Anyway. How much has the heavier tire impacted your driving comfort and mpg? I think the oem tires are around forty ish lbs a tire and the lightest e load in that size I can find is about 50. The oem trailhunter rims are something around 25-28lbs a pop I believe.
After some research I opted to go with the Toyo Open Country AT III 285/75/R17 C load rating on my OR. The truck has a 2 1/2” spacer lift. Tire pressure 37 front 34 rear. Tires are 20 lbs heavier than OEM sacrificing about 2 mpg. Ride quality and noise is comparable to the OEM. Time will tell on longevity.

I’m thinking about this exact setup bc of the C load. These are 33.9” tall and seem perfect. Did you need to remove the crash pad? Not sure I could fit them on. My 33.43” is pretty damn close to rubbing.

Also are those the +35 offset methods? How’s the “poke” looking ?

Looking sharp.

I’d bet you’d notice that difference in rolling resistance and tire flex right away!

WOW relations wheels are stupid light that’s amazing ~ I’ve had my eye on methods for a while but I’ll have to put these in my pocket too for when it’s time to upgrade.

right now my current front runner is actually the at4ws after reading through some replies and digging around a bit more. They actually have an 18” one in the oem trailhunter size that’s an SL rating so I think I’ll likely be going with that for the time being. I really like the toyos too but the at4w seems to just be a better tire all around? (But also it’s a newer tire design so there is that) the Toyo SL in that size is seven lbs lighter which I find interesting. I guess it’s falkens new compound that’s so heavy?
