The 3rd gen has adaptive cruise as well, but no lane tracing. I think it makes for a great driving experience in the 4th Gen! Also I do not believe the 3rd gen's is as responsive.

Had a 2022 TRD OR with adaptive cruise control. It was pretty useless unless on open road like I-10 in Far West Texas. The 2024 is completely different. Can't wait to try @Rocko 's trick in stop and go traffic.

Along with the wireless CarPlay and rear cross-traffic alert it's the one tech feature that is a significant upgrade in the 2024. I know these have been available in lots of vehicles for years, but nice to have them in a Tacoma now.

Wish I could say the same about the integrated dash cam and Parking Support Brake. Those have been really disappointing. I can't believe software engineers somewhere got paid for the integrated dash cam app. It's complete garbage. The dash cam hardware kills SD cards, not sure if my hardware is defective, but I'll insert a new industrial HD card tomorrow and then never touch it again.

...but at any rate the adaptive cruise control and lane assist is great.

I am only a few hundred miles into my Taco, but I found a pretty cool feature about the adaptive cruise control. I was in stop n go traffic, creeping along 5 mph or so, probably 10 feet behind the car in front of me, and I was able to activate cruise control. It maintained the 10 feet at slow speeds, and only shut off after coming to a complete stop after a few seconds. All it took was a tiny tap of the gas pedal to resume it. As the speeds increased, so did the following distance. Super stoked about this feature as I am often in bad traffic.
You can also resume the adaptive cruise from a stop by just pressing the Resume button on your steering wheel. Just one less place where you have to use your feet šŸ˜‚ Had it on my ā€˜18 GTI and ā€˜22 Santa Cruz.

Yeah, my wifeā€™s Lexus has this. Itā€™s a really nice feature once you learn how to take advantage of it. Thatā€™s one of the reasons why Iā€™m getting limited.
Iā€™m currently driving a rental baseline Subaru Impreza that has the feature also.

I have a friend that hangs a weight on the steering wheel, just enough to prevent the warning. My wife's Rav4Prime was just slightly enough out of alignment for a while that it always wanted to steer to the right- that also kept it from triggering the warning.
I also ā€œhave a friendā€ that does this. He uses Velcro wrist weights. They are unobtrusive and do the job. Not that he would ever recommend that anyone else do this highly dangerous and illegal methodā€¦
