Hello everyone. I finally installed my Westcott Designs lift. I can say, it's a job! I wanted to let anyone know who is going to do this with a TRD OR to not try to knock off the retaining ring at the bottom of the shock. It is actually threaded. I think they did the video on an SR5.

Does that include the parts? I have no idea on labor, I did it myself

That’s probably fair. Probably a 3-4 hour job depending on their experience

Are those rockslders or do you have electric steps? If so, what brand?

They are electric steps. If I ever get situations where I may need rock sliders, I guess I'll change them out. Right now my offroading is mostly dirt and mud since I live in Ohio and there are few places to go. I really like them though. I got them from RoughCountry and they work great. Installed them myself. Took about 3 hours.

Thanks! I was looking at them as well.

So all you really need to do is use a pair of vise grips to break it loose ? Does yours have the stabilizer disconnect?

I’m not exactly sure what you mean about vice grips. I do not Have stabilizer disconnect. If you mean the part to remove that retaining ring, I think it’s gonna depend on which model . The video from Westcott shows you taking a wrench and banging that retention ring down the off-road is actually threaded at that ring and you have to unscrew it. I don’t think you can do it without chucking it up in a vice. Make sure it’s a machinist vice with smooth Arms. It’s on with Loctite and should be replaced with red Loctite.

A popular SoCal shop charges $750 for the front/rear collar lift labor. A front end alignment is highly recommended after the install.

Westcott themselves are telling me $770 not including the hardware or alignment. So $1350 everything included.

It pains me seeing the rod held in a vise like that. Aluminum jaws on the vise would be wise.
