10/31- UPDATE:

Went back to @Discount Tire and TJ was able to swap out the 285 KO3's for 275 KO3's, and the difference is HUGE. Not only am I able to get an additional 2 mpg, but I can now coast on the freeway without loosing speed immediately. With each tire being 6 lbs less, I'm happy that I was able to downsize. Not only do I still have the aggressive look of the KO3's, but I also didn't lose the off-road capability of the tires. The ride is MUCH smoother and vibration is very minimal. 10/10 would recommend.

Now that I have enough clearance at full lock, I was able to install the Rally Armor Mudflaps and they look GREAT! Plenty of coverage but low profile enough to not be super distracting. Will keep this thread updated as I put more miles on these tires, but so far, I think I've found my style. Pics Below!

10/27 - UPDATE:

Well, looks like I might be switching the tires out for one size smaller. This is due to a few reasons; 1) Slight rubbing when backing up in a turn 2) There isn't enough clearance should I want to put on snow chains, 4) Extremely low MPG is a slight factor but I knew that was going to be a result and 4) I can't install new Rally Armor Mudflaps due to the tire hitting the bolt heads when at 60-80% turn.

So back to the drawing board, I need to see if the KO3's come one size smaller and maybe a C load instead of E. Will update when I get more information.

10/25 - UPDATE:

So after driving in multiple roadway conditions, I have some findings to report. When turning full lock on a hill (up or down) I notice that there is a tiny bit of rubbing, but it sounds like it's hitting felt and not plastic. Also, I noticed that when in reverse, at full turn, there is some kind of vibration, but I need to investigate further with the help of an additional person. I will report my findings next week. I still don't plan on trimming anything, as I'd like to go a few hundred more miles so the location of the slight rubbing is more apparent b/c right now, everything still looks clean.

Another user brought up a good point, if I would want to add snow chains, I would definitely need more clearance. So in the future, I think I will look into an additional lift to provide that.

Lastly, these tires effect mpg greatly in a hilly city environment. I work in downtown Seattle and almost every street is on a hill. The MPG tanked down to 13 mpg when driving in the city, but once I was able to hit highway speeds, it went back up to it's normal range. I noticed that the additional weight makes the truck slow down quite a bit faster. Prior to the KO3 install, on flat ground, I was able to go 60 mph and stay off the gas for a few before giving it extra juice. AFTER the new tires, I noticed that speeds decrease IMMEDIATLY once you let off the gas. This could be due to the fact that they're new and they still need to break in, but I will report back in a few hundred miles if there is any change.

Figured I'd update ya'll on fitting 285's on stock Trailhunter wheels. Chris and TJ @Discount Tire in Seattle really took care of this install. No rubbing so far, might remove the crash pad after I take it out on some rough terrain to test any contact. I forsee having to get some aftermarket mud flaps....the OEM ones don't offer much coverage.

It's amazing the different, more aggressive look a nice set of AT's give the truck. Great choice on the K03's
Absolutely. I'm keeping the other tires for longer out of state road trips and/or the summer months. I heard they're thinner than a normal tire of that size to help offset the cost.

These tires weigh 63.9 pounds sadly because thereā€™s no C load option. How is power and braking affected?

How is road comfort? Are they super stiff over bumps? How do they compare in this regard to stock? How about road noise and other handling characteristics?

Do you notice the added ground clearance ?

Why keep the old crappy tires ?

The guys at DT said that if I were to hit a downslope at a turn, there is a possibility of some rub. I'm going to leave it as is to see if I can see any signs of wear after driving for a bit.

In terms of handling, I think I notice a little difference, but not much. The primary difference is obviously vibration from the tread, however, I've read in places that once these get broken in, it smooths out considerably. Stock wheels were very smooth and gave very little vibration feedback.

I'm keeping the stock ones for when I want to head out of state on long highway road trips. Plus, the old ones only had ~700 miles on them....why not keep em. I also didn't switch the spare tire. That is still stock under the truck.

I know discount tire price matches. Did you pay discount tire prices or find a deal somewhere? I'm looking to upgrade also but think I will go with the 275/70R18 size so there is no rubbing at all. Still have to decide though, yours looks nice.

I know discount tire price matches. Did you pay discount tire prices or find a deal somewhere? I'm looking to upgrade also but think I will go with the 275/70R18 size so there is no rubbing at all. Still have to decide though, yours looks nice.
Yes, they matched WalMarts price. Which was a considerable amount of savings.
