The only safety stuff I still have engaged is the warning lights on the side mirrors, and the auto brake when I pull close to the garage wall. I never notice anything at all while I'm driving, other than the mirror lights. I don't know what's on that's bothering you so much.

E and they advised to run 36-38psi. When I ran Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs, they can handle up to 50psi but I always ran 38-40 on road and down to 28 off road, sometimes dropping to 12-15 on very harsh terrain. I am hoping the lower pressure than the 265s they have at 40-42psi (but have stiffer sidewalls) will help improve the ride quality.
I keep mine at door pressure. So around 32. 10 Ply Tires are going to mess with your ride quality, that's for sure. Probably better shocks will do some good. I have a Westcott Lift and am still running 33's. I'll be doing a full lift next summer. Nobody should have to remove crash bars, etc... with 285 17's bare stock, let alone with a lift. I'm running +44, but plenty of people at +25 with no issues. I'm running Duratrac RTs.

I love them. They’re really good tires. They’re three peak rated, Kevlar reinforced side walls, and have a 60,000 mile warranty. Not many all terrain tires do. also, very aggressive. I’ve had them in some difficult situations already off-road with no problems at all. Also do good in rain. Only downside is since their 10 ply they’re heavy. Worked well for me on shale in Maine. Saw some SUVs out there with shredded tires. I am a little biased, I work for Goodyear. These will probably be my next set as well. Either that or Mickey Thompson Or Cooper. All owned by Goodyear, So no nasty notes on my windshield, lol. They really don’t do that anymore, but it still sticks in my mind.

Sexy tires. They are on my list of 33.5” ish tires that I’d put on my truck. I’m currently on 275/70/18 Falkens.
When any of the Goodyear companies make a 275/70/18 in C load or D load, please ping me. I'd love to buy some Mickeys or your tires but I prefer a lower load rating. My Falkens are E and very durable, but all Es ride kinda hard.

I’ll be getting Nokian Outpost NAT’s SL ( made in USA) on next week. Amrid (Kevlar) sidewalls. I do off road a fair amount, so we will see if these are as advertised? Trying to avoid E-load on a small pickup as well…

I thought about those as well and may swap mine for the Nokian Outpost NAT in the same size I have now (275/70/18) - also E load but lighter than mine. Discount extended my trial with my tires so I have some more time to decide if I keep the Falkens. Discount said the Nokians in E load will be just as bumpy as the Falkens but I heard and read they are actually softer than most E loads. But that's the thing -- I have only had one set of LT tires and I don't know how similar one E load LT tire is to another. Either way, I would prefer C or D as a middle ground.

Falkens are heavy! And about as bullet proof a tire can get! Looks like the Nokian 275/70/18 is 54 lbs, not bad for an E tire.

Easy answer.. Hell yes!! 295’s are 58lbs and barely smaller. But I realistically don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze? I put 33.8 diameter tires on my Tundra after every one said 35’s!! Everyone still thought they were 35’s 😂

Both are great but not sure I want tires that wide. My 275s are already super wide.

The 34.3” would rub without crash pad removal. (295s)

I wish nokian made 285/70/18 (33.7)

so I went to the dealership and the technical advisor gave me a few tidbits that might help…

the first option is to remove the “ECU-DCM Fuse 1” under the steering column fuse box. This will disable it instead of just toggling the steering wheel controls and using the gauge cluster. He showed me a PDF that went into a better and more reliable answer that would stop the possibility of CELs permanently (this is long but a more complete answer)…


Permanent Disabling:



For permanent deactivation, especially in vehicles modified in ways that may disrupt PCS functionality (e.g., changes in ride height, oversized wheels/tires, installation of brush bars), Toyota has issued Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0026-20. This procedure involves reprogramming the Radar ECU and is intended for vehicles where PCS and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) may not operate as designed due to modifications.

Procedure Highlights:

• Owner Consent: Written consent from the vehicle owner is required before performing the calibration to permanently disable PCS and DRCC.

• Reprogramming: Using specialized equipment, the Radar ECU is reprogrammed to disable the systems.

This procedure should only be performed by authorized Toyota service centers. Unauthorized attempts to disable PCS, such as removing fuses or bypassing the ECU-DCM, can lead to vehicle malfunctions and compromise safety systems.

If you believe permanent disabling of PCS is necessary, consult with a certified Toyota technician to discuss the implications and ensure the procedure is conducted correctly.

here’s the funny thing: I ran Mickey Thompsons on my JLR for awhile, they are marketed as “35s”, however, if you look at Mickey’s page… 34.5 and a width of 12.8. Is this deceptive? Apparently a lot of companies round up, even under full inflation of 50psi, I essentially was only a 33.5-33.8 at 38-40psi.

People, sadly, esp Jeepers, are morons. I know I know, I was a Jeeper but I was smart again and finally left for good. The mentality for Jeep owners is 35s or more, wider is better and don’t care how hard the ride is, turning radius doesn’t matter and (worse), even though they talk so much shit, the still throw on those ugly ass angry eyes (just google that lol)… new owners will throw RGB whip lights, light bars and pods even adorn their JKs and JLs with some of the ugliest livery/themes. Yet it gets worse: I see many of these mall crawlers want to put 22-24” wheels, ring lights and rubber band MTs on but never see a trail, rocks or mud… I wanted my JLR to be classic with flat black bullet holes, lights that were white during the spring and summer but swappable to amber for winter driving (doesn’t cause flashover when they hit snow and blind my spotters). (You can see my long arm LJ in the pic with both of my jeeps I sold for $40k.)

I’ve included a pic of the “red Goofy” Jeep I have to see daily when I go to work…. Jeep would really be disappointing knowing that’s how a nice Jeep ended up. Even though there’s a heritage with being one of the longest produced vehicles since 1941 and used by military throughout the world, I have talked to vets who are disappinted at how horribly people “build” their World War winning off road vehicles.

I considered Westcott but their times are 4-5 months out. I finally got a chance to run by my shop and put the 285s against my stock height 4G, it’ll definitely be taxing on turning radius but just sitting static, it should be fine. I might just leave them alone (crash bars)…
But definitely pulling off the wind diffuser. It’s just fugly. Lol
