Like a lot of you I am not a fan of the JBL center speaker and prefer that it is silent, but still charging.

I pulled the speaker and its enclosure out of the dash to see what I was dealing with. I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Blue painters tape over the audio connection leaving the positive and negative connections only.

I'll report back after testing for a few months.

Interesting - keep us posted on how that goes.

I don't like the removable speaker bias either, but when I removed mine I thought that the sound was even worse. Maybe I need to try that again.

If you have not upgraded to the Beat-Sonic amp yet, you may not want to do this.

Super popular mod within the past 2 weeks.

IF you don't want that JBL middle speaker, I'd be glad to take it off your hands.

I was misled by the 5-pin dock wiring harness -- the actual 4 wire supply feeds to the side (12V+/-, Center +/-) where it mates with a small circuit board.. Pull the dock. You could remove the two center channel leads from the connector keeping the 12V supply however I *think* the JBL amp re-EQs the whole system when the JBL center is present:
