I am a bit confused by it all myself, as one other member on this forum pointed out. Those codes are for automatic transmission as solenoids don't exist in a manual transmission. The chance of me actually having a MIL ON with any of these codes is non existent. IMV, throwing a TSB out there with VIN numbers for a manual transmission is an indication of a bigger problem. I have driven manual transmission vehicles for over 45 years. I have never smelled, what seem so me a burnt out cluch on a vehicle that has less than 6000 miles. But like you said it does not appear to be slipping, yet....

One thought about the smell..for the first few thousand miles, my Tacoma had a very sharp and peculiar smell i could not pinpoint. I believe it was either something in the Catalyst being burned off or some new coating on either the exhaust or engine that has slowly faded off.

I initially it was very sharp, and im pretty sure it was coming from the exhaust gasses. Obviously there is no way we can compare something as abstract as a smell, but this acrid odor you speak of, could be what i experienced early on.

Since it has gradually faded to not noticeable, this leads me to believe it was some kind of coating being burned off....,if that help is your diagnosis.

Also, your vin being within the zone is just because it was built along the same timeline and alongside the automatics.

honestly, I don't even think it's even up for debate, lol. You simply do not have an automatic transmission. There's no way around that. You don't have the part that is failing. It does not exist on your vehicle. Lol

Your truck is not part of the automatic transmission tsb, just because your vin is on the list doesn’t mean anything, vins are decoded in a certain way and this is the situation you’re seeing. The Manuel transmissions had their OWN tsb early on back in June/July for failures. I’d have to try and look it up or you can dig for it on the web.

Update: My Trailhunter is still at the dealership. They received a replacement transmission on 1/23 and finally got to work on it late last week. I was supposed to pick it up this morning, but received a text yesterday (2/3) afternoon stating that there was "a crack in the replacement case" and they were trying to expedite shipment of a replacement for the replacement. I placed another call to Toyota Brand Engagement, and my case manager returned the call this morning and assured me that another transmission was currently en route and due to arrive at the dealership in about 3 days. So hopefully the nightmare will be over soon. Toyota appears to be struggling with quality control issues...

Good luck.

Toyota has QC issues with everything from minor trim pieces to engines and transmissions. It amazes to me to see them drop the ball like this. For decades they were my gold standard, but times have obviously changed.

Glad to hear you’re almost back in business, earlier in this post I had talked about my pro that had a vibration i felt vibration through my seat after about 45 mph , everyone who drove it felt it but no codes thrown. My dealership was pushing and so was l , so now 4 months later new East coast regional manager for Toyota was reading my text messages i sent to the manager of my dealership who forwarded them to him , he called the manager of my dealership told them to get me in a new 25 pro and give me anything i wanted . All great but I have a Terra pro which I loved the color when I first saw it, now glad but sad because I can’t get my Terra pro because it is 2025 so I have to pick a new color.

I'm glad you are getting a new truck, but man I would hate to give up my Terra Pro. Luckily my truck stopped its bad shifts and they have not returned. If the transmission goes out I will let them replace it. I don't know that I could give up my Terra truck for any of the colors now available. It is just the perfect color for me, so I feel your pain.

What color is your top choice?

What state are you in? Are you on the east coast of that state? I’m dying to know if your FTS is the same as my region .

It is really strange how much variation and lack of QC there is in the 4th gen. My 2024 Pro is smooth as silk at any speed, yours vibrates at one speed and is fine otherwise, and @Ray T's truck vibrates at anything over 45 mph. @Gfenza89's Taco shifts like a drunk teenager just learning to drive.

How did Toyota forget how to make a properly functioning drive train after owning automotive quality for so many years? And it's not just Toyota. automotive QC is in the toilet in many brands just as prices have soared.

No gear hunting and a ton of power, in my case it does feel like it could be tires, and I'm planning to swap them out eventually, but its not bad enough to warrant bringing it in

I know! It’s killing me with my color I just don’t want to let it go but the vibration is there up into the 70’s it chills out a little bit, but to ride around in that sour spot after 45 kills me after paying what we payed for these trucks. Dealership is being real good telling me take my time , because I keep stressing the fact I can’t get my Terra . I wish it would throw some codes ,and color I’m not sure I’ve had black vehicles all my life they look so damn good when they are shining, but it still won’t be Terra!!!!

It’s crazy because they changed both rear tires, rebalanced all 4, put it on the alignment rack, removed driveshaft and drove it in 4wheel drive and vibration didn’t go away it does suck!

I can't say anything bad at all. The shifts are quick and crisp. Now that it's broken in and I'm used to the power and handling, I'm really starting to enjoy it. But now that I've mentioned that...
