Definitely didn't even think about the bed scene lighting aspect of picking a cover. Does the cover block the lights at all?

No, the lights still work fine even with a cover that sits on top of the sides instead of down in the rails. There are just diamondback shims, that will not fit under them.

I like the looks of the diamondback, but went with a Truxedo rollup. My neighbor has a DB on his Tacoma, I like the looks and it is much more secure, but I haul larger items quite often and the fix center section of the DB wouldn't work for me.

As a note, Diamondback doesn't take into account Trailhunters, or any model with scene lights, when installing these covers. The shims, that are shipped to go under your bed side molding, will not fit because of the scene light wiring running the length of the molding. Not a huge deal but it will not be quite as waterproof because of it. I still love mine.
This applies to both the Switchback and HD/SE.

With 2 people we recommend removing the cover, loosely assembling the rack off the truck, place the rack on the truck, then reinstall the diamondback.

If you have just one person then keep the Diamondback on, build the rack one crossbar/set of uprights at a time, attach the two crossbars together with the front to back connectors, then tighten everything down. This way adds a little more time, but it is not bad at all. Just remember to keep things loose until you find the right position for everything.

Odd question. Assuming you have the 5ft bed? Just curious if when you open the rear panel, could you fit a fair amount of lumber tilted into the bed with the tailgate up? The fixed center section on that cover makes me concerned in that area, especially with only a 5 ft bed.

Yup. You can strap a crap load of stuff on tops.

I put a Diamondback Switchback on a month ago. Smooth finish, great fit. Prepping the bed rail caps and installing the front bulkhead bar is more work than installing the actual cover. I’m super pleased.

ETA: I will say my electric tailgate needs a helping hand when the Switchback is latched down. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest, but may be a disappointment for others.
