Maybe a dumb question but I didn't look into this for my current truck, and I'm considering it for the 2024 model. So production happens and the truck will have the stock wheels. The TRD black wheel upgrade costs something like $1325 on the configurator, but if you have this done post-production do they give you the stock wheels as well since you paid for the truck with them? This is the piece I'm struggling with, I can see paying extra for the black rims but it's not like the stock wheels are free. They've been paid for in the cost, so unless I get to keep them I don't see how it can be that expensive. Anyone that has detail on how Toyota/the dealers handle this, could you explain?

Also, while I'm at it, I see people talking about a black out package but it's not on the configurator/build page. Is that one of those special packages you can ask the dealer to do? What's the cost for that, if anyone has it handy? Trying to figure out if there's any cost advantage to doing the whole thing.

I don't know about wheels, but the 'blackout' package is nothing more that the black tailgate lettering insert and the black badge overlays.

My Off-Road was ordered with the tailgate lettering but I didn't think about the side badges. Rather than deal with an order change and risk getting something else screwed up, I just ordered the overlays for those last night standalone.

They're adhesive backed and just stick over the stock badges. I plan on installing those myself when my truck arrives next month.

I’m not 100% sure I understand your question, but talk to your dealer. If you order the wheels outside of your truck order/deposit, you’re just getting the wheels as ordered parts. Their service team will install, or you can take to a tire place. You will keep your old wheels.

On the configurator page for the Off Road, the blackout emblems are $89 and the blackout tailgate letters are $99, but I've seen a "Blackout Package" on window stickers for $389, so unless the dealer is making $200, or that's what they're charging for the Toyota symbol (if it's not included as an "emblem") to be blacked out, it doesn't make sense to me, and there is no "Blackout Package" on the list of packages or accessories, so I'll assume it's a dealer add on. I've also seen a 6' bed mat, for $200, but now it's gone, again!

Yes that's my plan I was just trying to understand the pricing. Thanks to everyone that replied.

I cannot speak for Toyota dealers, but when I purchased my Bronco a few years ago, I ordered Fuel wheels and Falken tires.
I could have sold the stock wheels/ tires independently, but did not think there would be many buyers for stock since the Broncos were just coming out.

So the Ford dealership that I went through gave me a $1000 trade in on the Stock wheels/tires.
That helped offset my purchase of the new upgrade.

While it may have been a fluke or perhaps it’s part of the premium package, my OR came with the side Tacoma scrip in black and looks great. There is nothing in the tailgate. My truck also came with first aid kit, wheel locks and two accessories pigtails that I also wasn’t expecting. My truck was one of the fist thousand built so it could have been a fluke. My only option is the premium package at 8800. I need to get the front badge blacked out and figure out if I want to do the tailgate as the letters are deep and look okay as is. Congratulations on your order and I’m sure you will love it.

All offraods come with black letter on the sides. The front and tailgate are options.

I'm not sure that's correct, because in the "Accessories" section when building an Off Road, it's $89 for the black emblem overlays and $99 for the tailgate black inserts. I've seen on some window stickers $389 (or maybe it was $399) for the blackout package, but I think that's a dealer installed option because it's not on the configurator. Just sayin'.

The configurator is wrong. Just like it not listing heated seats in the upgrade packages.

look at every off road delivered and then the window sticker.

the blackout package is more then just the side letters. You can get blackout with off road, but the letters on the sides are standard.

Not sure what configurator you're looking at, but I just looked and you can order heated seats on the OR for $585, and heated and ventilated seats are included in all the Premium packages for the OR. If you're saying that heated seats come standard on the OR, I don't think they do, but they are included with the Limited, and I assume on the Pro and TH. The blackout package, which includes the overlays and tailgate, is $389 (or 399), so again, I don't think they come standard, and there are even some posts here where buyers of the OR also ordered the black emblem overlays. If I'm wrong, I will be wrong, but from everything that I can find, I'm not..

That is not what I said. The heated seats issues I mentioned has been discussed many, many, many times here.

The configurator does not show heated seats as part of any UPGRADE packages but they are included based on what has been delivered. You cannot select upgrade package WITH heated seats, meaning they come with it and the site is wrong. I was simply saying taking the configurator as truth is wrong because its already incorrect.

I made no mention of a base OR or a premium OR.

The black overlays you're referring to that OR owners are ordering are the front badge and tailgate. The black side "TACOMA" is standard, but Toyota doesn't give you a credit for it.

Just looked at an OR at Newburgh Toyota, and the heated seats are added at $585.00, so if they all come with it, you're paying extra for it, which is what I've been saying all along.
