I was perusing the Toyota website and saw that the Tacoma spec page (https://www.toyota.com/tacoma/features/mpg_other_price/7598/7536/7534) was updated with weights and capacities for the hybrid models. Most of the first drive reviews showed the door sticker stating ~1200lbs payload for all models. I'm not sure why they chose to put that number on the door but I think that sticker can effectively be ignored just like in the non-hybrids. I decided to put the information into one table for easy comparison. To keep things simple I only compared the 4x4 AT 5' bed models.
Some observations I noticed:
- iForce Max hybrid adds about 450lbs but raises GVWR by about 500lbs. I wonder how much of the hybrid performance is negated by the increase in weight.
-Trailhunter is chunky at 5360lbs! All those ARB accessories add up quick but still plenty of payload to add more. (Ranger Raptor is 5325 and ZR2 Bison is 5265)
-TRD Pro is 260lbs lighter than the TH which should have a noticeable effect on handling and acceleration. It also boasts the second highest payload.
-The limited hybrid is 70lbs more than the Pro, that doesn't seem quite right.
-TRD OR Hybrid boasts 1705 of payload but is somehow 15lbs lighter than the sport hybrid. The non-hybrid OR is 55lbs heavier than the sport.
What are your thoughts?
