My truck has landed. I have to attend Overland Expo PNW this weekend, so I will be flying out Monday or Tuesday to grab this bad boy. What a long ass wait this has been from Toyota. Too many things that are still unknown about their flagship trucks.

Subscribe to Independence Overland if you haven't already. I will be covering more details about these trucks that people actually care about, that have yet to be discussed.

Just watching your Oregon Coast Camping video. Nice work! Will you be keeping the FJ? My wife and I rented an FJ and toured around Costa Rica for 4 weeks last winter. Had a blast. Was a great truck. Thing was a beast!

from Nomad America? I have looked into renting one from them too. I want to drive that Land Cruiser REAL bad!

Yes sir, keeping the Fj. I have had it 15 years, and at this point its not even worth selling. If these new Tacomas do have any problems (of course I am hoping they dont) then I can continue to make content and go on all the trips. And in some cases, both vehicles will be part of our videos.

Yes! Nomad America! Not quite as kitted out as your FJ (lol) but it did the trick. It was a great way to see the country and Nomad was excellent to deal with. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and the people we met were amazing.

Think im about ready to start actually shopping and visiting dealers. Anyone got any dealer recommendations for norcal? willing to drive a 3-5 hours, have a feeling local bay area dealers are gonna markup.
Are you looking for a long bed?

Hi all - new here. Just got my allocation:
  • Ice cap
  • Vermont
  • 5 ft bed
  • Build date 7/29(ish)
Wondering if that date will slip a bit given some of the QC hold's that have been popping up. We'll see...

I hope you are right. It does seem like that would be the case. I just need the truck before July 31st. I have about two weeks of QC hold to still take the trailhunter on my Telluride area trip.

Waiting here as well. Got confirmation that my TH was completed but that it is in quality inspections status now.

Ended up taking the Trailhunter allocation for Cookeville, TN. In white. Have a vin now, waiting to see what the actual delivery date is, supposed to be last week of June to second week of July. Is there a way outside of the dealer to track where the vehicle is?
Received my Trailhunter on July 2nd in Cookeville. $68K (3K dealer boost) but no drama, and time at the dealership was very short as I had already argued out all the details via email. Has 500 miles on it, and the farkles are already in the mail to be installed.

Nice truck! What’s a farkle? Where did the 500 miles come from? Was it you or did the dealership manager drive it for a while?

This is interesting because your delivery estimate was in line with my truck. But mine is still on QC hold. Maybe they are starting to trickle out??

Haha sorry- a farkle is a motorcycle term for all the crap we bolt onto our bikes.
Sorry, that was unclear- the wife and I just put the first 500 miles on it- I got it with 6 miles on it from the dealership.

I was a little surprised that mine didn't get caught under the QC hold- hopefully it wont turn out to be a problem. There was a second one from Tennessee around the same time.

Yea probably, but my 2004 was already sold, and that buyer was waiting for me to deliver the truck. I was in need of swapping the trucks, so 3K was more of a convenience charge to get it earlier than later. If I had lots of time, I might have waited for the 2025 in their cool new tactical brown color.

Also remember the 2025 will have a ~$1000 increase. They always do.

that aside, mudbath won’t be on the Th next year if I had to guess. It’s a Pro color for 2025.

Enjoy the Th! It’s a sick machine.
