Need some help,

I just purchased a 2nd TRD Off Road 6M Tacoma and the clutch is weird, I could use some help from the wizards on this forum...

Clutch is consistent, resistance constant throughoutClutch is inconsistent, extremely soft then constant for remaining 80% of travel
Enjoyable clutch, predictable and consistentAnnoying clutch, two stages to manipulate (slack, then normal resistance)
Fun to driveNot fun to drive

Not sure what to do here. Same vehicle, no mechanical issues. I have been driving manual transmissions for 22 years. Something feels weird.

I do not want to go to Toyota and say "hey this clutch sucks", so I am looking for some feedback / suggestions.

The initial zero resistance provided by the clutch is annoying and actually makes it hard to drive. My wife (who was converted to manual) has been complaining about it. Of course I did not listen...

Thoughts?

Yes same experience here . My truck only does that if i use imt . With normal mode clutch is 90 percent consistent . Other thing i have issue is with imt on i get vibration on clutch pedal just a second before I release it after changing gear . I just stopped using IMT now .. most of the time its consistent with IMT OFF but sometimes it weird . Normally clutch bite point is all the up but sometimes as soon i release it it engages and then i get jerk . Mostly happens in 1 gear

Why not? If you're saying that you have 2 identical trucks and they drive differently, something is wrong with one of them. I know it's a hassle but taking it somewhere is really your only option as nobody here is going to fix it for you. Tell them there is an issue with your clutch and let them fix it. Don't let them tell you "it's just they way they are" because you already know that isn't true. This is my 3rd manual Tacoma and they've all been smooth and consistent, as I would expect them to be. The only thing that isn't is me(occasionally.)

I'm curious if you took a test drive before bringing it home. Did you notice it then? Or did this issue crop up later on?

After lots of thought, it looks like slack in the linkage.

Normally I would probably not even notice it, but it is really annoying to drive.

Update:

I figured there was slack in the linkage. Toyota tightened up the pedal, drives like a charm now.
