‘24 Taco Hybrid Limited Oil Filter Question…..

Ok this is a weird question. I researched the oil filter number for my 2024 Taco Limited Hybrid. I came up with the number 90915-YZZN1 based on several sites. Just had the dealer do my 5000 service and they used a different oil filter. They used 90915- 10009.
just a little bit confused.
Am I wrong about the YZZN1 being the correct filter?

They're the same filter from my understanding. 90915- 10009 is the older filter and the 90915-YZZN1 is the updated filter part number.

in further comparison it looks like the YZZN1 is a smaller filter. I had ordered six of these to do my own oil changes down the road. Will verify when I remove the 10009 at the next oil change.

This is a response that I found in another forum concerning the filters. Apparently the 90915-10009 is made in Japan and installed at the factory:

“Y'all are arguing over semantics. The filter numbered 90915-10009 is the genuine filter installed at the factory assembly line when the engine is installed & filled. That is the ONLY place you will ever see that filter except for the very first time you change the oil and then it will be in your oil bucket/drain pan. Every time after that the new one you will purchase from the dealer or Wal-Mart (yes they carry the real thing at least around where I live) 90915-YZZN1 OR 90915-YZZF2.

Those are interchangeable per TOYOTA due to tariffs placed on the original source of manufacture for the N1s by DENSO by legislation pushed and later enacted by former President Trump. Shortly before the start of the new year N1s started to be re-stocked in the USA due to:
a.) removal of some tariffs due to COVID and they are not scheduled to be renewed by the Biden administration and
b.) DENSO makes the N1s in a non-tariffed country now”

My guess is that they did not change your oil at all (or filter)---- since Toyota recommends oil changes at 10,000 miles, the dealership likely had no intention of including that w/ a 5000 mile servicing. Most here (myself included) don't think waiting that long is wise, but that's what's in the manual. The pic in your initial post looks like the filter that came w/ your truck from the factory as well (made in Japan). When I did my own oil change the factory filter was also made in Japan, but none of the ones I got as replacement parts were. Every Toyota sold by Southeast Toyota Distributors LLC includes TOYOGUARD Platinum, which includes 2 free oil changes. I hope they didn't take one of your free oil and filter changes if they did not actually change your oil and filter! I'll definitely be marking my filter and checking it before I leave the dealership after my first service!

Is that what was implied when you took it in? Was it in for an oil change? Most dealers will change the oil at the Toyota recommended 10,000 mile, but at the 5000 will just rotate tires (maybe) and check fluids. I don't think your filter was changed. Maybe the oil, but I'd be pissed if they did an oil change half way.

Well if you read through the initial 5000 mile service it states change oil and filter, rotate tires and check fluid levels.
my receipt does show oil was used. I guess they only changed oil and not the filter.
dealerships are such scum bags.

Sorry man that sucks. I’d take it back, at the least get some money back for not changing the oil filter. How can you be sure they changed the oil if it still has the same oil filter? You can’t really. It’s a good thing you looked.

Unless that's an old picture I'd say that is the original filter.

Stopped by the dealer to verify. All they do on the first service is rotate tires. Looks like I get to change my own oil until 10k service.
