Hey, I just tried to do an oil change on the new taco and figure I’d let you guys know what I ran into. The filter number that I saw as an interchange to the 100009 filter that comes on the truck, is not correct. The thread pitch is different on the YZZN1. I’m not sure why this company switched it out or why I saw it online as a correct replacement but it is wrong.

I figured I’d save you guys some time and money and figure that out for all of us . Haha

Are you saying YZZN1 isn't compatible? I literally just did the first oil change an hour ago and had no issues using it. I noticed they weren't visually identical on the inside, but it threaded on just fine. 😬

Sounds like 'someone' cross-threaded the filter.

I restarted the thread 5 times. Maybe bad threads on the first one I had. Never tried the other one. I wasn’t about to force it on.

90915-YZZN1 is the correct filter. It’s listed in the parts catalogue and was a match to the one that was already on the truck.

YZZN1 worked for me. Sounds like you got a bad one.

I must have. Oh well, hopefully the company sends me a replacement. On another note, oil changes are a lot easier/cleaner on the new truck vs my old 2.7 3rd gen.

I didn't keep my 23 long enough to change the oil on it. Ha. But I will say, on my 2012 the oil filter was on top, which I think made it easier. The only hassle with my 24 is having to remove the skid plate every time. Not a huge deal, but still....

yea I think I’m going to add a skid plate that has access to the filter and drain plug to speed things up in the future.

Sorry been remodeling a house…. Yikes.

yah, unfortunately at quick glance this sounds like user error or a poorly made filter.
Yeaaaa, with the amount of oil changes I’ve done, it wasn’t user error lol. Place I ordered the filters from sent some replacements. We will see how that goes on the next one.

So, is everyone going with the Toyota filter or aftermarket like Purolator Pure One or Mobil One filter?
