I just took delivery of a 2025 TRD Pro and was looking under the front seats and saw rust on some of the metal parts. Looks like a metal rod and its brackets. Both seats have this. Should I be concerned? Anyone else noticed this?

They seem to have a bunch of unprotected steel in these vehicles. The CV shaft ends, parts of the steering knuckled, various bolts with no coatings what so ever. If you do a lot of offloading on the beach, I would be concerned then I would cover it up with some fluid film or something every couple of years. Other than that, I wouldn’t be concerned about inside the seats.

Does yours not have rust under seats?
Thankfully no, but if it did, I would without a doubt be back at the dealership. My 2024 Pro was one to have a transmission issue, replaced the transmission, torque converter and the hybrid system. Three weeks without my truck but Toyota took care of it as they should. They will do the same with your truck.

I haven’t looked but I did see some rust bleeding down from the pinch welds on the cab I sprayed them down with fluid film the other day

Can you post a picture? I had rust on rock sliders and Toyota replaced them for me.

I wonder if this is what you OP is talking about [image attached]. This is what my TRD Pro looks underneath (8k miles on it now).

But to be honest, when i swapped my Miata seats to Recaro, the OEM Miata seats also displayed similar rust spots. I think you're fine.

I just checked under my seats and they look about the same as @pepco's and @Starman202's trucks. Overall there is less rust than either of your trucks but more than I would have expected. It is just surface rust on unpainted metal though and I don't see it ever becoming a problem.

Should we take a rag and coat it with some product?

I just picked up my '25 Pro a week ago today. I don't see any rust underneath. Thank you for the heads up though. I'll keep an eye out now.

Hey, does your driver seat, door side bolster, make a popping sound when you get in or out of seat?

I guess it couldn't hurt, although probably not necessary. Light surface rust actually protects the metal underneath it, like the surface rust engineered to develop on the outside of some guard rails. Unless the metal is in a really corrosive environment it should not rust anymore.

On really rusty metal I have used rust reformer, which work very well if you want to stop any rust already there from spreading.
