I am looking for a small lift on my OffRoad, for clearance and also to offset any droop from front and rear bumpers. My Land Cruiser is my main wheeling rig, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't set this up well.

I like what I saw as it uses the existing shocks and doesn't seem to require swapping control arms or a diff drop. It is an inexpensive solution to get me exactly waht I am looking for. I don't want to go the spacer rout, at least on the front.

Looking for feedback from anyone who has tried one
  • Any comments on the difference in ride from stock springs
  • Did you install it yourself? I have spring compressors I used on an older LC, wanted to know what you did there and if you had to get a bigger torque wrench. Back looks easy, front a bit more complicated so any comments would be appreciated.
  • Did you have a shop install it? What was the cost
  • Any comments on CV angle after install?
  • What lift did you end up with front and rear? It says 1.5" front, but his video said 1" was the result.
Curious if someone researched the stock shock to see what the extended travel was and how much margin was there over stock and with theese springs

I see Dobsons also has springs, but months to get. Can't really tell if there is a difference in the two.

Any other comments?

Ready to make the purchase, just want to get a perspective from anyone who has installed them

Thanks in Advance

I have the All Dogs lift but have only installed the front so far. Truck is 38-1/4” from the floor to bottom of fender. A Westcott preload collar was in the truck before, installed by the prior owner, so not sure what the actual lift would be from stock. I’ve also got 285/70-17 tires. The Westcott collar also put the front of the truck at 38”.

I still have the Westcott collars on the rear and haven’t yet installed the ADO springs. I can’t compare the front ride to stock as I didn’t have the truck then, but as compared to stock with the Westcott collar, it is a fantastic ride. No mure clunking and overly firm feeling front suspension. It’s a very, very good ride.

As for install, it’s the same as any other strut/spring install. Remove the coil over from the truck, compress springs, loosen top nut, decompress springs, swap springs and reverse. Removal of the coil over and reinstall was as easy as I’ve ever done before, literally 15 min per side to remove and maybe 20 min per side to reinstall.

I don’t have a pic of how the truck sits but will snap one and post it up. FWIW, Chad and the guys over at ADO are great to work with.

Mike

What spring compressors did you use? have old style compressors I used on springs for solid axle vehicles (non strut) they were always a bit flakey. Thinking of getting this. I like the bar thaat goes across holding the two clamps together. Interested in what you used

That looks like a solid option; however, all of those units can be dangerous. I’d be sure to lay a moving blanket across the spring while compressing.

I’ve got a neighbor that does a bunch of Yota work, TORX Off-road - you can find him in the SE forum on the TW forum, and he has a commercial grade, wall mount spring compressor like the one below. It was definitely safer but still sketchy. I’ve used the parts store rentals plenty of times with no problem, but I’m always nervous as hell doing it.

The other option is to use the truck’s weight to release spring tension. I’ve don’t that before as well and it works good. Leave the lower shock bolt in place and the 4 top hat nuts. Place a jack under the lower knuckle for support, remove the two lower knuckle bolts and slowly release the jack releasing spring tension. YouTube has some good videos on how to.

Good luck!

Here you go… Alldogs springs in the front, OE springs with the Westcott collar in the rear, which gives about .75” of lift. The rear ride is fine, the rake is about 1” taller in the rear.

The tires are 285/70-17 on Black Rhino Rivals, +25mm offset.

I've used my old-style basic spring compressors on IFS Toyota suspension, and it's always a little risky. They take quite a bit of force to compress the 600-700 lb/in springs. But it's always worked for me.

Another option is a basic hydraulic press. Put the shaft of the shock down through the base plate, support everything well so it's square and stable top and bottom but with access to the top nut, and squish everything with the press.
