Aluminum Valve Stem Caps

If you live in a climate that utilizes salt in the winter for road maintenance never put aluminum aftermarket caps on your valve stems.

Dissimilar metals and a corrosive. They are nylon for a reason

had to soak them in nuts off, heat them and utilize (2) vise grips to easy them off. Ugh !

For sure only use plastic or nylon, aluminum caps will fuse to the stems. There are a few plastic Toyota/TRD options on Etsy. I just got a nice set of TRD caps with red letters.

I was told a while ago by a tire technician at a large Tire Shop, never to use those metal caps, because they damage the stems.

Caps came with the rims and I never gave it a second thought. As I get older these little mistakes seem to happen more frequently

I bought aluminum caps for my Subaru and they fused with the stem. I tried to get them off but damaged the stems and had to get them replaced at the tire shop. Never again LOL.

Never use them - ever. It’s why all new valve stems or valve stems on new cars use plastic caps - they won’t seize on. Imagine something as simple as wanting to check your tire pressure or put air in or take out air of a tire and you can’t get the cap off. Plastic caps have nothing to do with manufacturer being cheap, I've never understood the draw for metal valve caps.
