Anyone From Bozeman, Montana Have Recommendations For Overlanding Spots? Early Planning for a Small Group.

I've been to every state in the contiguous U.S. except Montana. I'm 49/50 and I'm about to turn 50. So, to be 50/50x50 I am currently planning a trip to Bozeman to meet up with my brother that lives in Washington.

I've been doing research, but I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information about what's available for overlanding/camping and what isn't.

Was hoping for some insight from a local if anyone lives in the area or knows someone who does. We're planning to head up there mid to late May. Right now, it's just me and potentially my neighbor that owns a 3rd Gen in talks about the trip. It's early planning phase but I'm open to meeting people along the way.

Wife and i would love to sell it all and live in montana….im a Flyfisherman, i eat and sleep it ……..thats the greatest flyfishing , ill get there one day….as far as overlanding….a lot of people, ranchers own huge acerage…however i do know if your camping, fishing most areas allow camping while fishing specific rivers, be careful in bozeman it is a city…., myself i would explore away from bigger citys , and carry ….i am interested in Bitteroot area , northern part of state , eastern is more praire, western area, in the north section is more mountainouse

Not near Bozeman, closer to Boise. Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. Not the canyon itself, but the public land on either side in Idaho and Oregon. Plenty to explore and camp.
