2024 Tacoma Best T-slot Tonneau cover? Is it worthwhile to get one with T-slot? 1739923012679-94

I really like the idea of being able to add a bed rack or cross bars...and still have a tonneau cover. Looks like there are a few options out there: BAK Revolver, synetic, retrax...and I think Truxedo has a soft roll, but not currently avail for the new Tacoma. Is the T-slot rail really that usable? Could you mount a rack with a roof top tent on top?? Is weight capacity an issue?

I don't know anything about the racks, like Yakima or whatever - never had one. Do they make them fully adjustable so that I could use the same rack on different sized trucks - either the Taco or my SuperDuty?

Yes. You can get them fixed or adjustable. Main concern between those two will be your bar length. Consider your desired bar width and rack height when purchasing. T-slot is t-slot, so lots of options.

On covers, I have the Roll-n-Lock A series XT (with t rail slots option). Sits incredibly low profile. I have a post on here somewhere with photos.

I have the Retrax Pro XR. It has full length T slots unlike other retractable covers where the slots only go to canister. Plus they have the best quality and warranty.

@Mtnbikes awesome to hear! I see you're in Minsota eh...any issues with the canister freezing up in the winter? I had a roll-n-lock yeas and years ago...winter was an issue with it, at times

I have the Retrax Pro XR as well. I need make some adjustments to reduce water getting in. Not a lot of water is getting in, but some. Outside of that, it has been solid. I installed the Kuat Ibex rack in the T-rail slots, it was pretty easy.

No issues. I try not to wash my truck when really cold weather, like we are having now arrives, because there can be ice that forms. It will still open, but obviously not as smooth. Otherwise, it’s a flawless design that requires no maintenance. I used to have a Yakima system, but did not like it at all. I will be adding the Kuat Ibex system this spring.

I have the BAK Revolver without the T slots and have been very happy with it. It's a little finicky to install just right but it has been very solid once I dialed it in.

@BoboForShort great to hear! I'm strongly leaning towards this one, mainly because there's no lost space on account of the canister. Does the Revolver X4 leak at the corners? I've heard that. Another bonus is there are no drain hoses

Not having a canister was a big draw for me as well.

A little water gets in a few gaps that I haven't bothered to cover. I'm sure you could seal it up a bit better with some more weather stripping. Even without anything extra it isn't bad.

Just ordered the Revolver T-slut  !!

When I seen that it attaches directly to the factory bed cleat rails...I was sold. Just wish my local distributor would have made an effort to price match online, or even offer some kind of discount. But nope, they apparently don't want to move product. Got it online for over $300 bucks less 🥳

What didn't you like about the Yakima system? My plan is also to eventually add retractable tonneau w/ rack system and I had been thinking Yakima appeared to be a great option---- haven't done much research yet, but from what I've seen so far, it looked really good.

(also +1 on your excellent trailer(y))
