No ramps needed for my off-road. The annoying part is removing the plastic covers (def not skid plates) to get to the oil filter and pan, so a small electric impact for the win. You'll also need a plastic cup to stick under the oil filter to avoid a mess.

Hey @sparkytaco That is good information - thanks. It sounds like Toyota is still installing spin ons which are facing down, so a mess is part of the plan.

When I first had my Tundra someone on a forum did a step by step with good pictures. I have changed my own oil for years, but it was a great reference. What tools I need, how to minimize the mess, torque settings for all the bolts. When you first drop the drain plug it comes out very fast with a lot of pressure because it holds over 8 quarts. If you don't have a plan it makes an incredible mess, because if flys way past any ordinary oil pan. The first oil change I decided it couldn't be all that bad and ended up with what I called the little Exxon Valdese.

The hardest part of a Tundra oil change is the under engine protection, which is heavy, awkward and a PITA. I am hoping the light weight plate on my truck will be more easily manageable. The 2011 models still had zerks that need greased something like every third oil change, so it could take a while.

I might do a 4th gen oil change guide if no one else does it first, and of course whenever I get my truck. lol
