I wasn't able to get my filters open, the tool I picked up from Amazon wasn't able to deal with those smaller filters, so never got to see inside. I'm almost @ 11K miles now, dealer did the last change for me as part of their -- whatever they offer -- @ 8800 miles. I'm gonna change mine from here on out again, but I've had 4 filter/oil changes starting from the beginning up to this point. I'm a fan of Amsoil as well, but gets kinda expensive. I flipped over, recently, to the Costco Synthetic. Seems work work well thus far. I'll change @ the 15K mark, if not earlier but curious to see what the oil is looking like these days. Engine has been doing great, not as noisy as it was at the beginning, and definitely making a bit more power. So seems like the rotating assembly has jelled together by now.

No creeper is gonna work unfortunately under this Taco, but no ramps either. Had to use a floor jack with my Silverado cuz the running boards were so low.
I also drive the same flavor of Tacoma. I'm coming up on my 1st oil & filter change in the next week or two, probably at 700 or 800 miles.

Why can't I just drive it up onto my ramps? I don't see any obvious conflicts, but I might be missing something.

You can.. just don’t need to because there is enough room under

Ahhh, OK. I never put my previous Tacoma on ramps or jack stands for engine oil changes or gear oil changes for the 18 years that I owned it and performed 100% of the maintenance on it, but I was 18 years younger when I started.

I recently did a thorough major service on my old silver TRD Offroad MT including all fluids, gear oils, belts, spark plugs and even the front rotors and brake pads. The rear brake shoes were still less that 50% worn after 18 years so they and the drums stayed on the truck. Yes, it was on the ground except when I pulled wheels for brake system services.

Unfortunately, I've just had my right rotator cuff partially rebuilt and won't be done with rehab until April. I won't be able to lay on my back under the new (silver TRD Offroad MT) truck and use my dominant arm, so I may end up needing some extra room when I do the first oil change soon. I already have four ramps for servicing my wife's Porsche and my son's Mazda, both of which are very low to the ground and have those huge plastic fairing panels covering the bottom of the engine bay. Maybe I'll need to use the ramps, and maybe not.

I hope your shoulder heals up just fine.. I’ve had both my shoulders rebuilt from doing stupid shit.. the last was my left that was done in February of 23.. my surgeon said it would take a full year to get it back to working again. He was right and I did spend 3 months in rehab plus doing all the exercises at home. It’s about 80% and my surgeon said that is all I would get out of it. I’m 68 and I still get under all my toys to work on them but just takes a little longer now.. sucks getting old
